Has anyone here ever put a roll bar (8 point) in a later 4 door A-body?

The reason I am asking is because I recently looked into replacing the front bench seat with seats that are strong enough to use a Schroth safety harness (belts anchor to rear belt bolts). I found that the required seats alone would cost over $600 for the pair. SO, that got me to thinking of installing a roll bar so that I could anchor 4 point belts properly and still keep the old bench seat. I see that Dart roll bar kits can be had for about $200.

I know that the old bench has no head rests, but would it generally be safe to use the old bench in conjunction with 4 point belts which are attached to a roll bar? By the way, I'm about 6ft tall and the bench seat is slid all the way back in my Dart. Also, this car is a daily driver (and my only car).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

first off i'm not sure if you'd wanna go this way, but i'd definatly look into buckets. depending if you want this car to have a "race" look to it or not is another factor. you'd have to rip out the carpets/backseat for this install, also with buckets you can choose to mount them back alittle.

you want to use this car for drifting also right? i figure a roll bar would be a good addition to it because it not only adds safety it will strengthen the whole car.

I have actually thought about doing this in my 60 Val 4 dr but I was going to make the rear bars follow the roofline and go down through the rear package shelf so my kids could still sit in rear seat comfortably.Im not sure whether or not Ill do it but I have added frame connectors.

Yeah, I figured what would be the point of building a 4-door if I couldnt use the back seat and the fact that I try to take my kids(Kelly andTimmy)to most of the cruise-ins that I go to I would like for them to be comfortable but I think that a roll bar in a 4-door wuold be slick (Ialso like full cages in ragtops too-looks wild when the tops down).
