Well it gets weirder every day. Attacked the engine with a putty knife to scrape off all the crusted oil and road grime, then took it to the car wash and sprayed off the engine to get it relatively clean. Now there is no oil at the front of the engine (yaaaaay) and only a little bit of oil possibly coming from the rear main seal. Can these things rejuvenate themselves? The truck may well have been sitting unused for years . . . .

Found two more projects - Z-bar in clutch linkage slides laterally on rotational axis - oneof the plastic bushings must be shot, and the harmonic balancer/pulley assy is toast - coming apart.
