Question is, does oil get to the top of the engine through a hole in the journal nearest the firewall that matches with holes in the cam bearing, or does the oil flow through the cam bearing, therefor that journal is solid, just like all the other journals?

second part of question, if the latter is standard, ie., that all slant6 cams from Chrysler flow the oil through the bearing, not through a hole in the cam, Are you aware of replacement parts supppliers, such as Clevite, that have there own cam bearing and cam setup that flows the oil through a hole in the cam journal?

Thanks very much for your response!

The urgency part for an answer by tomorrow afternoon is too complicated to explain.

Jack...there's been a fair amount of discussion about this, and the general concensus is that Chrysler used a hole through the rear cam journal, that matched holes in the cam bearing, to feed oil to the top of the engine. This had the affect of limiting the amount of oil because oil would only flow when the cam passage was matched up to the bearing passage(s) during it's revolution. There are some aftermarket cam mfgr's that don't put the hole back there, though it should be.

I drilled out the cam hole 1/16th inch larger to increase the flow rate to the valve train.

just now pulled the DC p4120243 cam that I bought from Summit racing, and the hole is not straight through the journal, but looks like it is drilled in two places that are about 120 degrees apart on the journal and so would never line up with the two cam bearing holes. That's why we get no oil to the top. The cam must be defective. I'm going to contact DC to see about getting a replacement p4120243 with correct holes in the journal. Already was told by summit where I got it in 1st place that they could not get another for 2 to 4 weeks, and that's not acceptable.
