Got the slant pulled out of the 1985 Dodge pickup and dropped it into the RX8. My guess it is a world's first. Sorry for the quality of the pictures. I need a new camera. The slant as you see it is within a half inch on all sides of its final resting place. I need to cut the firewall a little bit, but only after I make a transmission spacer from plywood so that I can build motor mounts. I also need to make some clearance around the steering rack. The hood closes with a couple of inches to spare. Not sure yet if it is quite enough for my idea of LS coils on top of the valve cover.

As for the weight, the slant without starter (don't need it, the Mazda starter is in the transmission) or accessories is 437 pounds. The rotary, with flywheel is 245 (close guess).I removed the oil coolers from the RX8, which saved 20 pounds, and am moving the 40# battery to the trunk. I am also replacing the electric steering rack with hydraulic, which saves 25 pounds.. So I don't think weight is a problem.

I appreciate the good info you guys have given me.

Thank you all for being part of this historic event.

Update: I spent a good bit of time trying to resize the images per instructions, but was only able to get two to post. I'll keep practicing.

No pics visible to me.
??
I definitely want to see 'em.

For this forum you need to host the photos somewhere and then link to them.
I use Imgur but there are lots of different ways to do it. You can also upload a pic to a different forum and link to that.

No need for a host. You can post them directly into your post

Not always true... depending on your situation.

If you took the Pictures with your phone or a camera that has a high Megapixel resolution, they will need to be a smaller file size to go directly into the forum post. The forum has an image size limit - I am not sure what that size is.

I would suggest to look into what ProCycle said or use flickr or Maybe make a video and post a Link.
Also Some helpful info on the topic

I've tried several ways. No luck. I read the forum tips about Flikr. I'll look into that today. I'm used to being able to upload right from my phone.

Might have to be a PC for 'Upload Attachment' to work

Guess I'm not the only one crazy enough to put one of these where they absolutely don't belong.

His post says he has an 86 Mitsu Starion (Dodge Conquest). Pretty cool.

if using windows 10,
1) put the photo on your desk top
2) Right click on the photo to bring up a menu
3) Left click on the EDIT in the menu
4) Select RESIZE in the header

cut the picture down by 50% to start, and save the photo under a different name if you want to keep the big sized original photo,

go back to .org and follow the upload photo prompts at the bottom of the message screen. Be sure to select the photo that you re sized.
you can experiment to see how big of a photo you are taking and to find out how much it needs to be reduced to upload to .org.

I have found that when sending photos from my I phone via email to my desktop to upload to .org, if I select 'medium size' on my phone, I can drag a photo from my email to my desktop and upload the photo to .org without doing the resize routine listed above

Alright. I got a couple of pictures posted. Seems like it kept giving me a limit of 251kb. Kept resizing in Windows 10. Had limited success.

I am getting ready to swap the RX8 front subframe with a 2006 Miata subframe. I am told that will give me the oil pan clearance I need. I am making plywood bell housing spacers to help mock up motor mounts and make sure I have firewall clearance. I may have to make some changes behind the head into the firewall.

Progress.
