Second contact with the Belzona supplier. They do offer a smaller package......1 KG of their formula 1111, for $349,plus the 16' of reinforcing tape. Apparently, they don't have much interest in dealing with a small-timer like a hobbyist. I'm not going to pursue Belzona any further....just do the best I can with JB Weld and hope for the best.

Now.....to address the request by Lou for the spec cards for my two cams.
This is what's included with the cam(s). I take it you might have a recommendation between the two?

I would use the 270/270 cam. 270/280 is backwards for a 225. You want more duration on the intake than the exhaust, so that one will most probably run worse than the 270/270 or at least won't do you any good. I'm not saying you can't use the 270/280, but it is not using the valve timing curves efficiently for a 225 (large ratio of exh to intake flow, long stroke and small bore).

I would degree the cam at 100-102 deg intake centerline and I would target 9.0:1 static CR. You might go 9.5:1, but you'll be more on the edge for a street car and pump gas and will have to be more careful with ign timing. 220 @ 0.050" is not a big cam - a decent but not large step up from stock.

I have the Erson 280/270 "reverse" version in my Project V engine with 9.6:1 and it runs great for what's in that motor.

Hmmmm. Interesting....those cams were bought wayyyy back when we were still using the "old" board software, and have been waiting for me. I'm pretty sure that was a grind that Doc suggested for use. I wonder if maybe the card is printed out incorrectly, and the events are actually the other way around.

Doc and I and others have recommended more duration on INT than EXH for at least a couple of decades. They may be reversed. You might be able to tell by measuring with a caliper or you can put it into a block and run the duration and lift numbers with a dial indicator. Or maybe there are markings? I bought my 280/270 through Menko Johnson's group buy maybe 15-20 yrs ago and just put it into a motor 3 yrs ago. If you have a real 280/270 (I/E), then I would use that with 9.0-9.6:1 comp.
