Mine is in the panel under the trunk lid. It must be clearly marked for ON and OFF. It must also be wired so that it kills the engine when turned off.

Yeah, I already installed the bulkhead. Any good ideas on where to mount the cut off switch? I hate to cut another hole in the body but I guess it is not that big of a deal. Rick |

Probably for now, I'll just leave it at the front. Saves me some headaches and a couple bucks keeping it at the front. Just talked to the Body shop friend and the trunk lid and door are already sandblasted in the rusted areas and ready for some minor repairs and then primer. I just finished re-sanding the front splash pan and will drop it off Monday for another coat of primer. It had some pitting that I was able to sand out with the high build primer he used. Hope to get final sanding done on the dash today, then he can shoot it with the black paint. Then reassemble door parts and get them hung and adjusted. After that I'll probably drop the motor and tranny in the car. Rick   Once you put the plate and the stickers on you know it is serious. |

Well, Instead of the dash getting done I set my transmission up on some saw horse and plywood. I mounted all my new shifter stuff to see if everything worked. Oh Yeah it works great. mounted my kickdown cable brackets too. believe it or not I have an old floor shift cover out of a barracuda/ valiant that had the cable operated shifter. It looks like it will set right down over my B&M shifter and look kind of "stock". I'll post a picture after I get it all mounted. Back to the garage! Rick |

Need you opinion. Which look do you like. The race look or the stock look ? I kind of like the stock look ,but then again I like the race look!  Also bent my new lines for the cooler. I have to finish them once the tranny is in the car.    Almost forgot, my shifter hole will be my cupholder for my coffee cup. It's all the rage in new race cars! Rick |

Greg got this light thing going on .........Hope the wind don't blow to hard or you will have to tye the Ruster down like a small plane !!!!!!!!! P.S. The factory cover looks good , Now I gotta find me one....... |

Me, I'm not so worried about lighter. My car will someday be put back on the road, so lighter is not the biggest concern. If Greg was really worried about lighter he'd dump that 8 3/4 rear and those pro stock slicks, and get an 8" Ford rear and smaller tires!! Just kidding Greg! I think I'll make everyone happy. Short term - Install aluminum cover. Screw it down and I'm done. Long term I like the looks of the factory cover and I think I will put it on later when I have carpet in and have time to make mounting brackets. I do like it better. Tomorrow Ryan & I will begin overhauling one of his transmissions so my car will take a back seat for a few days. |

Mine's in the same spot but it also needs to cut the fuel pump relay. Later

I got the shifter install completed and ready to go. I mounted an aluminum cover (lighter Greg!  ) over the 4 speed hole and I cleaned up the outside of the transmission so I can give it a new coat of paint. Also installed the new front seal and have the convertor ready to slide in. My new cooler should be here in a day or two. For some reason, I'm anxious to put the tranny in. Not sure why. Then I can get the driveline cut.Got a call from the body shop and the door, trunk and splash pan will be done tomorrow. So I will have everything in primer except the two front fenders. I also dropped Ryan's old head off to get new seats installed and have the new valves installed. it is already planed .100 so it will help with my compression a bit. I need to do just a little work around the guides but most of the porting is done. The guy at the machine shop builds race motors (mainly Fords) but he has a flow bench and he said he would throw it on there and see what it did. So that is cool. Rick |

I put a new coat of blue paint on the tranny and since I needed some room in the garage to work (not really) I decided to just go ahead and install it. Man that feels good. After so long to actually get some real parts back in the body feels good! I was not sure of the normal routing for the cable to the shifter. Do most people run it to the front up high and make a loop back. Or down low and loop back. It is hard for me to tell which is best until I set the motor in and see where my rear header ends up. May be it doesn't matter. I also painted a bunch of small parts that needed cleaned up and finished Ryan's 4-speed overhaul. All in all a good day! I did pick up all the primered parts at the body shop and dropped off the last 2 pieces. (front fenders) But my next thing to complete, hopefully Monday night, is to get the dash and small parts finish sanded so he can paint them. Once they are painted then I can install the windshield...etc Slow and Steady! Rick   Shifter in final resting place, 4 speed hole plugged  And in the car!!  Thanks for listening! |

FYI,,I'm running the same shifter. If you have a 60'' cable I went to the passenger side of the tranny,ran it under the bellhousing in the gap between it and the pan rail and up to the bracket that way it stayed away from the exhaust. I also ran the cooler lines to the rear,under the tailshaft and up the passenger side.More room on that side and no exhaust to worry about. |
