Rick If you are still around to see this post, would you mind sharing your cell number in case I need a little homing-in after I get there? I should show up around 9 AM. Thanks, Sam |

well, i did make it again, as a spectator again. met some new people and was nice talking and seeing the old friends (was nice talking to the new also). was a long trip home since the barracuda decided to make the trip interesting by spinning a (connecting rod) bearing on the way. guess i know what my next project is........ |

Sunday's Race winner was Lou Madsen in project V, with Ryan Covalt getting the R/U position in his Dart. Just got home and need to unpack, so more to come later. Total car count was 15 Today, and I think everyone had a great time. One little spot of rain for about a half an hour and then back to racing. Congrats to Lou!! Rick Covalt |

Had a lot of fun in the vert this weekeend. Right now I'm sitting at the rest area on I81 between the Hershey exits waiting for the love of my life to bring me some tools and a STARTER! I stopped to take a leak and now she won start not even by arcing the terminals. UGH! |

Thanks, guys. I had a ball all weekend. Rick Covalt, M-D Dragway, and the Mopar Show really put on a great pair of events, and the weather was perfect except for 1hr rain break on Sunday. Project V ran well, but had to learn how to drive it with some new hardware. Figured it out on the 2nd day, I guess... New Records: Charlie Schmid - D/Nitrous (170 motor in ~3000 lb '66 Cuda) - 13.36, backed up by a 13.10 (bummer no backup for that one). Can't remember MPH. Will Burns - A/Alcohol (225 motor in ~2200 lb '69 Cuda) - 11.44 @ 117.4 MPH (both ET and MPH records) Ryan Covalt - D/Gas (225 in ~ 3300 lb '72 Dart) - 14.93 @??? Also, Seymour Pederson put up a personal best in his white '62 Valiant street car of 13.58 @ 99 with me in the other lane. That thing is screamin'! I ran 14.0s today and would have broken out into the 13s on final pass, but restrained myself. I did manage 96.7 MPH on one run, and a new best 60 ft - 1.893. See y'all next year at Mason-Dixon IV! It was a great day for racing, be with friendly folks, and enjoy watching the sixes fly (not mine). Sub 15 second times ruled the day (except for me and the pick-ups). C'mon out next year and join in the fun. You can beat my 19.2 second rocket - yes? Thanks all for sharing food, shelter, good times, and slant 6 technology. Charlie S and Lou M. - congrats on being in the Winners Circle. A 1000 miles from home and you could not have seen a happier man than Charlie. Gotta love that. |

Congratulations Lou and Charlie both. Charlie, it was nice to meet you finally after all these years of communicating on the forum. Same for Pat and for several others. I left before the rain and drove up through the mountains into PA to go to a hobby shop that's there. Hobby shops are all closing around the country, because of the internet, and when you get that close to a good one, that is still open, you gotta go. The Dart behaved well and the trip was uneventful. MPG for the trip was a modest 19.9, which I guess is not bad for mountain driving, but I suspect it will do better with better tuning. For me the fun started at 8 AM when I left home, and did not end until I got back home later in the day. Lou, I think I saw 98 or 99mph on one of Charlie's faster runs. Echoing Pat's sentiments: Thanks Rick C for all your hard work on the part of you and your entire family. You guys made it fun for sure. Sam |
