| Post subject: | Rob still owes me...... |
Sorry, but you guys that didn't attend really missed out! Saturday was great! Lots of action, bigger turn out, (than last year - Rob was beatin the bushes) seeing new faces, yada, yada. Really glad that Ron is okay - Ryan was right - it was scary. But after all my travels even letting Dad (74) drive (I think DT had white knuckes), Rob DID NOT make good on his promise of fried green tomatos at Kathy's Country Kitchen. I even provided oatmeal rasin cookies for everyone that was trying to troubleshoot his duster. I just don't get it. From now on I (join in if Rob has also treated you poorly) will call him TOMATO. |

What does Ron run on his motor, carb or injection? Also was the car or motor hurt, I know he was OK. Good to hear you all had a good time. Richard |

Richard, I run a "Ron's" Flying Toilet fuel injection on the car. I want to thank everyone for their concern and a great big thank you to the Slant 6 racers at the track for the help with putting out the fire. The only damage I have found so far is some melted wiring on the car and a few blisters on me! I think we are very blessed the damage doesn't appear to be more severe. Congrats to Ryan and Meril on their wins! |

I'm beat, so this will be the quick rundown. I'll fill in more details later. Yes, Wayne is correct. I treated him very poorly and I am still just a big Poser... BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front Saturday: Round 1: Ron Hamby - Bye Lukus Bruner - Norm Foster = Lukus Rodney Hargis - Larry Chesney = Larry Meril Bruner - Bob Rogers = Bob Ryan Covalt - Courtney Bruner = Ryan Round 2: Ron Hamby - Lukus Bruner = Ron Larry Chesney - Bye Bob Rogers - Ryan Covalt = Ryan Round 3: Ron Hamby - Broke Ryan Covalt - Larry Chesney = Ryan Sunday: Round 1: Greg Ondayko - Bye Lukus Bruner - Norm Foster = Lukus Rodney Hargis - Larry Chesney = Larry Meril Bruner - Lou Madsen = Meril Ryan Covalt - Courtney Bruner = Ryan Round 2: Greg Ondayko - Lukus Bruner = Greg Larry Chesney - Bye Meril Bruner - Ryan Covalt = Meril Round 3: Greg Ondayko - Larry Chesney = Greg Meril Bruner - Bye Round 4: Greg Ondayko - Meril Bruner = Meril We let the track do the ladder. They did a Sportsman Ladder. I won't do it again... It was COLD and overcast all day Saturday. Sunday was cool and clear. I won't steal Greg's surprise on his ETs... Surprise of the weekend was the Myers Family showing up just to visit with everyone! Gene McRill and a friend also came all the way out from Kansas City. I talked to him briefly and he said he'd be back. Hopefully he got a chance to do some bench racin' with folks. We didn't all hang out under the big shade trees as promised. It was COLD Saturday! Ron Hamby came up with a great idea to have a Slant 6 Racer Reunion / Banquet this year! Look for more information in a separate post soon. |

Well, just got back home (1:30am). Interesting trip back, We actually had to drive in SNOW when we went over the cumberland maryland mountains. It was a little slippery since my back tires are mostly shot, but the Dart and Trailer successfully made the trip. The weather at the track was unexpected for sure I figured going south would be warmer. It was in the 30's at night and highs in the 50's. Good racing weather just a little chilly camping out at the track. Whitney and I both had a great time and are really glad we decided to make the trip. I got to meet so many new people and they all made us feel like we knew them forever. Thanks to Rob Simmons everyone who helped put the race together (and make all the great food!) We had a great time racing with everyone. I learned I still can't beat Meril Bruner, but with a little luck it is still possible to win a race with a 4 speed on street tires. Ron, I'm really glad you (and the car) weren't hurt badly, hope your burns heal up quickly. It was neat getting to see Rob Simmons car and even get to hear it run. Can't wait to see it on the track next season, it sounds mean. Thanks for organizing the race Rob! |

Sorry I missed everyone on Sat, but had fun on a beautiful bluebird-sky Sunday. Made it home last night at 1 AM after a rest area 2hr nap. Meril got me back for Elk Creek, but truck ran 15.42 @85 w/2.76 gears - 4700 in the traps in 2nd gear! Glad to hear Rob's new ride run too!! Still recovering from multiple trips... More to come. Rob, Rob, Rob. I thought you had this banter thing down pat. You are not suposed to agree with me you are suposed to come back tooth and nail! You know stuff like: Wayne has been to two Clay City races without a ride. What happened to the FED idea you poser? Dude, all you are good for is oatmeal cookies! I realise you were prolly tired but that is no excuse. Lastly, I think Big D might be right. You are now "The Tamater." |

Yeah, Yeah... Okay. I was a little frazzled this weekend and am still recovering, so... I know you are, but what am I!? So there! Nanny Nanny Boo Boo!! On the other hand... I AM much less of a Poser than you are! Did you even drive a Mopar to Clay City? Were the cookies your way of trying to make up for being such a Poser? Are you trying to buy your way into being a Slant 6 racer with cookies!? I did have every intention of taking you to Kathy's Country Kitchen for fried green tomatoes,... until I saw that pathetic display of bribery... "Hey Guys, if I give you cookies can I watch you REAL SLANT 6 RACERS work on this totally awesome Duster...?" C'mon! It was totally obvious!! (is that better? I love you too, man! "Mater" versus "Cookie"! Bring it on, you Poser! |
