http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/8494/gedc0068.jpg Here's the yellowed rear piece layed over the top of the polished front piece. It looks clear sitting there in the garage, but not sure what it will look like trying to see through it out in the sun looking for that "last amber" ![]() ![]() |

Looks pretty good! If nothing else, those windows will save you a TON of time when cutting new ones. Making the first ones to fit is a lotta nitpicky work. Lou |

That's true! ![]() I owe Norm Foster a debt of gratitude for doing most of the ground work on these cool race cars for me to enjoy! ![]() First the GodsRods Duster II and next the Challenger! ![]() Hey Norm, you can drive either one of them any time you want! ![]() |

Rob, That lexan sure does look a lot different than the last time I saw it. I never thought it would clean up that much. |

Yeah, I was pretty doubtful at first. The first couple steps sanded off all the yellow haze and then the following steps just kept polishing it up. Hopefully it will work out okay. The boys are out of school now and we just finished our home swim meet this weekend, so I'm hoping we will have more time to get over to the garage and make some better progress. |

Post subject: | 36 Days until Elk Creek. Will we make it...? |
In the fine "GodsRods Tradition" from back in 2003... http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5217 36 days until the drag race in Elk Creek, VA... Will the GodsRods Duster II make it there or not...? Not sure about the car, but I'm going regardless! ![]() |

Post subject: | Some Progress - 24 Days 'til Elk Creek... |
Andrew and I spent some time at the garage the other day. ![]() 1. Rear brake hard line is replaced 2. Front brake hard line with Line Loc is installed 3. Rear lexan windshield is polished Most of the time at the garage was spent installing a yard spigot so we have water and continuing to clean up the property. One of the three big oak trees got hit by lightning last week, so there were bark and limbs blasted all over the place (not sure the tree will survive much longer ![]() The rest of the weekend was spent cleaning out the garage at the house so Angie can park the Suburban in there again. We still had to put away all the camping gear from Chase's birthday trip last weekend. It rained a lot, so things were brought home kinda wet. After that we jumped back on the basement project. Finished up some tile in the bathroom and hung the mirror, towel racks, etc. The plumber didn't seal the sink drain, so it leaks. ![]() My poor old back and knees just ain't what they used to be. ![]() ![]() I was proud of making a little progress on the Duster until I counted the days remaining until Elk Creek... We need to get to some serious wrenching! ![]() ![]() |

Post subject: | "Mad Thrash" Update |
1. [X] Replace brake line to rear of car 2. [/] Either swap in the 8 3/4 (3.91 Sure Grip) and driveshaft from Street Duster or fix the leaky axle seal on the Ford 8" (4.56 Mini Spool) and get another driveshaft (May be able to use the current driveshaft with the 8" by simply swapping the rear U-Joint! ![]() 3. [/] Either swap in the disc brakes from Street Duster or continue to use the SBP drum brakes - Leaning toward the heavier, but safer discs for next year / Will use the SBP Drums at least for Elk Creek / This season 4. [_] Install fuel cell, lines, pump, etc. 5. [_] Install wiring and gauges (ignition, tach, water, oil...) 6. [/] Buy and install a carb / linkage / gas pedal 7. [_] Install radiator 8. [_] Buy and install trans cooler and lines 9. [_] Install seats and harnesses 10. [/] Polish and reinstall or buy new lexan for both windshields 11. [_] Cover a hole in the driver side floorboard 12. [_] Paint floors and roll bar 13. [_] Probably another dozen things I haven't thought of yet! ![]() Stuff in BOLD is an update since last time. The / means the task is only partially completed. Once the task is completed it will change to X. |

I spent the evening at the garage yesterday. I started by installing a pulley on the crank dampener to run the water pump and then started looking at the fuel cell, driveshaft loop... I'm realizing more and more that, in addition to OCD, I've got ADD too! ![]() ![]() I chased my tail in circles for a little while and realized that the utter chaos in the garage was the main (okay, just one of 'em) culprit to my confusion. So, I spent the evening cleaning and organizing the garage! ![]() I moved shelves around and cleaned up a lot. The spiders don't like me right now. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
