why do you say that kesteb?
I definatly dont want to go bigger than the BBD unless it is staged and even then I dont want to go bigger until I get a cam in it. this thing is my daily driver and premium gas isn't getting any cheaper.
wouldn't a holley  (I never liked them) 2300 put my milage in the toilet?
I do have a holley from a 400 or a 383 in the garage right now, is that worse than the 2300?

At what RPM do you get full mechanical advance? I have about 9.75:1 compression with 14 initial, 28 total all in by 2500. And I'm pulling a 2.76:1 rear with tall 15" tires. I have no detonation. It sounds to me like you have a tuning problem. Either your advance rate is too fast or your lean. Either put a timing tape on your balancer or index the balancer. Find out how much spark you have for a given RPM. Not knowing this, you cannot do anything at this point.

Lets see, your metering rods are all the way out of the jets, you are now trying to enlarge those jets. Its time to use a carb that can be adjusted without all the heroics. A 350cfm Holley 2300 would be perfect for you.

There is no part number, and a recent trip to a big distributor house in my state said you can't order a governor either.... I weld all mine with a jig, and die grind the slot out to a set measurement on my digital caliper.

I'm drooling!!! How much do I fill up!

My truck has a crummy 15 slot and the gas mileage stinks! I can't get any good initial advance, or it pings like hell when I hit the gas.

Are you planning on "Ebaying" these for some extra racing money, or are you willing to reveal your findings to the forum? Or have you already spec'd it out elsewhere that I've overlooked.

Please don't make me pull the 9 out of my car to measure! (as if I'm not busy enough already.), Or pm me with a price if you want to build one for me.

Just to comment on-topic, I'm very happy to hear Phil has finally 'flushed' out his timing problem.

Slant Cecil has a good one for making an R9-10....http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... istributor

I had an initial run of these and two members wanted them to 'test', with the promise that they would send me their 'core' governor back and the price of shipping (whole $1.25 usually). I'm running low on cores to weld up, I have a buddy who would love to do this in his pare time for say $6.50 shipped + you send a core back.

I only have two distributors built to test so far, I'm running my only factory R9 at the moment, while I cobble together one of the R7's to see if I can get the thing to dial in at 14-16BTDC, 14 advance, and 20 vac. advance...

If I were rich I'd buy up a whole bunch of distributors and 'recurve' them for the group and price them to be much, much cheaper than trying to get the mopar performance versions...
