There is definitely a difference in sound as cylinder pressure increases.
Yes, there are differences in sound quantity and quality as lots and lots of different parameters change. Peak cylinder pressure and its timing relative to valve and piston events, engine operating temperature, variation of every one of MANY parameters in exhaust system design, engine load, fuel mixture, on and on and on.

But there is still no direct relationship between the amount of sound and the amount of horsepower.

The buzz you get at certain RPMs has more to do with where max pressure is produced than the muffler you use.
Disagree. The buzz/drone has lots of different factors, most of which are accoustically based.

Good to know, means I can keep my glasspack longer :D .

I'm not saying that the glasspack is the correct way, I just happen to think it sounds good with my 225(it's pipe is only slightly larger than stock pipe), and doesn't ever get real annoying. Keep in mind that a lot my sound deadening material is out of my car as well.

Maybe you could find people with slants to hear their sound? Different blokes, different strokes. There are actually people running around that enjoy the sounds of cherry bombs on large V-8s, no one else does though since you can hear them a mile away.

So here comes the big question, what kind of muffler do you run on your slant? How does it do in terms of resonation, interior noise, and sound quality. Do they sound more like V-8's or imports? And can you still hear the radio at cruising speed. I have located a couple of free glasspacks and I was thinking about sticking one on my slant. But I have never heard a slant with a glasspack so I have no idea what it would sound like.

I have Clifford long tube dual outlet headers on my 170. 2 1/4 inch pipes feeding twin glasspaks, with 2 inch outlets just in front of the left rear wheel. That sucker is just plain LOUD. If it was a daily driver, instead of a race car, that has drive to cruise duties, the glasspaks would have been off long ago. But for the limited street use, it gets, I love it.
