There's not a Valiant in existance worth $65,000 (or "even" $45,000) in my humble opinion!  (That is, unless the doors and gas tank are full of cocaine)

Personally I like customs more than I like historical cars, so I love this car(I wouldn't buy it unless I was rich though). Personally I'd probably customize it differently, but still I think it's nicely done.

I share the same feelings madmax shares towards his car in a way. I bought mine for $300, probably I'd only start thinking about selling it for $10,000(and whoever offered me that would be an idiot). $10,000, or a million for that matter, wouldn't help me forget how much I miss my car, but I'd have to remember what good I could do towards another slanted vehickle with such a high pricetag.

Shivadart
p.s.: That car would be better with a turbo slant in it, but his car, his vision

I've never seen your '62 Signet, and I think it's nicer, too.

Im with dan on this, it looks nice on the outside...but the inside is too... pimp my ride style. It might as well have tvs and all that sort of shenanigans inside. If its not a slant, it doesnt belong here.

They did a beautiful job on the exterior of that car. The interior... I'll keep my vinyl bench, thanks. I don't see how someone can restore a car and expect to make any money off of it. .02-zorg

As the old joke goes:

"How do you make a small fortune restoring a car?"

"Start with a LARGE fortune."

What bugs me is that people charge an arm and a leg for anything that says "MOPAR."

Repro tailights for my 63 Dart are $75 to $150 (depending on if they have the little chrome rings).

Repro headlight doors are $90.

If someone knows where I can get that stuff WHOLESALE (i.e., not Laysons, etc.) - I would be soooo happy!

Old Jeep stuff, or VW stuff is cheap - *we* just get screwed because folks are speculating on Mopars for profit.

I don't think its that simple. There probably isn't enough demand for MOPAR parts compared to chevy/ford so mass quantities aren't produced, driving up cost.

Methinks theres lots more 60's impalas on the road then 60's darts.

eBay has a lot to do with it. Of course, repro parts is a whole different ball game than old used or NOS parts. A lot of $$$ goes into tooling to repro a part. Not true of some hoarder who's trying to turn a big profit on some part he cheated someone else out of.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

If you pay too much for something, you spoil it for everybody (including yourself).

Don't pay their damn ridiculous prices, don't get sucked into "bidding wars" on eBay and the prices would actually start falling. Know what something is reasonably worth and stand your ground when the $$$ are too much. Be ready to walk away.

Back to the valiant, just shows you that not everyone has the same vision for their hot rod-- just be glad we have people who actually spent xx,xxx dollars on a 61 valiant. Can you believe that? Ebay is a useful tool i just call it the garage(garbage) sale on-line !!!!!!! 8)
