Your way will work fine. You could merely jump the posts at the starter relay with a screwdriver, too. It's just easier to see the oil light from inside the car! Maybe your remote will reach so you can see the light. D/W |

Yes, my remote will reach so I can see inside the car. But what about grounding the coil wire? Will what I say about pulling it out of the distrbutor and wedging it somewhere on the block work? Should have my pan, valve cover and pickup tube back in the morning, all clean and ready for paint. dave |

Yes, that's how you ground the coil wire. But with a remote start switch and the IGN off, you won't need to. D/W |

Yeah, but with the ignition switch turned off, the light won't work. However, the valve cover will be off, so I guess I could just crank her until I see oil in the top of the head. dave |

DOH You are right! Say, weren't you the one that thought he was maybe a little too dumb to be wrenching on this thing (or am I confusing you with another poster)? Reason I say is, all through this process, you've struck me as a very competent and wise fellow, just never changed a pump and pan on a /6 in a car D/W |

Thank you, Sin Sey (sp?). Yeah, I'm the one. I've done a bit on V-8's, but this little slant is a different animal. If I didn't already have my 360, I'd probably redo this little slant. dave |

Well, I've thought about that. It will be quite a while before I'm at the point where I'd have to make that decision. So, ya never know what might happen. If something else came along at the right price, I would do as you suggest. I've had my 360 built for about 5 years now. I had to put it on the back burner while I redid my son's 66 Mustang. It was a I6, and I converted it to a 302 - changed the suspension, put discs on front, changed out the rearend - even painted it myself in the garage, but I'm not that proud of that paint job. I'd like to do it again, but he's in Phoenix now, and the car ain't runnin'. So, now it's my turn to do my thing. The biggest problem is finding the room for everything - LOL. dave |

| Post subject: | New Pickup Tube... |
Well, talked to my buddy at the machine shop and he said my pickup tube would not clean up very good. He said the "gunk" inside, wedged between the interior part of the screen and the "pancake" was too heavy for their hot tank to get out. So, I stopped at Auto Zone on the way home and ordered in a new one. Should be here Friday. I pick up the oil pan and valve cover tomorrow morning. I looked for some Chrysler Blue engine paint, but neither my Auto Zone or Checker had any. I'll look around in Albuquerque tomorrow (I work in Albuquerque, but live in Los Lunas - I know you all wanted to know that - LOL!) dave |
