Ok I took the 7 1/4 out today to see how the 9 1/4 overkill rearend would fit. It has to be shortened but the covor doesnt hit the gas tank, the U-joint fits perfectly in the yoke, the drive shaft doesnt need to be moved, In other words. Heres future reference: When installing a 9 1/4 in a 69' valiant100 2 door with 727 and 7 1/4, rearend swap only requires you to shorten the axle 4'' on each side to match the stock 7 1/4 width. A magic U-joint or custom driveshaft is not needed (thanks for the help though Actually you could just move the perches and mount it as-is, then your wheels would be popping out and be funny looking. Mopars look sexy with big rubbers tucked way up there anyways. As for shortening it; Else I take the axles in to be chopped, Does anyone know of axles i could look for in a junk yard? 5x4.5 bolt circle for that 9 1/4 |

I don't think you will find any thing in the j/y like that. You might get lucky and get a machienist to shorten and respline the ones you have if possible. And that has been none to work in some cases. |
