Hi again - I want to thank you guys - !!!!

I re-set the valve lash on the car last night, using a "be safe" spec of .018" for exhaust, and .012" for intake (even though it appears that a .010" setting for intake would likely be OK.)

The car idles as smooth as butter now!!!!

I have replaced the carb with a remanufactured one now, and I'm not sure how much of the equation the carb was. I'll find that out later today....as I'm going to yank that off and put the original one back on....because of:

NEW PROBLEM! :)

The car does idle and cruise great now, but it has a totally unacceptable nearly-stalling condition when I stab the gas, just like there's an issue with the accelerator pump.....but I've had this new carb apart to check it, and the accelerator pump diaphragm looks great, also has its spring in place where it should be. (This is the Holley 1920.)

Curious if anybody has any thoughts on what this might indicate? I've read some of your other posts on how fussy and almost "voodoo'like" the maladies of this particular carb can be, apparently.

Thanks again guys - I'm having fun chasing this down with your help....much obliged!!!

Mike T.

Hey dart swinger.

I have to say that I was bitching about my cam, and SSD, Doc and many others told me to run open lashes on it. I was convinced that open lashed didn't went well with my cam since the ··"$&$·"/·$/·((·%& of a cam grinder told me it was a zero lash cam.... long story short, I decided to open lash up one more time, I used .014" intake and .018 ex and so far I'm very happy about the results. Idles strong, has tons of power compared with my previous lash adjustment, it makes some noise... but I love to hear the engine...

Now about that bog of yours, if you already cheked your accel pump and passed the test, I'd look at: needle regulation, and timing status. Retarded timing can cause bog off idle.
