I opened up the chamber around my Chev valves...I think it is pointless to install bigger valves without doing it.
very true.

Yeah I know is pointless to install bigger valves without modding the head, but I doub in USA you need to pay something like 700 dollars to increase chamber size.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised at paying about that much to have your head decked, ported/polished, and new valves put in. When mine was done, I installed hardened seats and reused my old valve train but it was still not cheap. Sadly, good machine work is gonna cost you, but I guess you've decided to keep the slant instead of go for a smallblock? That's cool!

The Ford 300 valve head cost me $500 for the parts and labor of cutting the head and valves and custom fitting everything. I think I also got some porting and polishing and an angle job done as well. I didn't open the chamber up around the valves, but I am thinking maybe I should.

My head cost $400cdn with hardened seats , opened up the throats, bowl hog, Chev valves and springs, radiused Chambers, CCd, surfaced and grind. I did a ton of work myself and supplied all the parts. ,,,,,and yeah,,,it works!

My short block was $800 cdn ,,,,overbored, decked, crank cleaned up, cam , cam drive set, pistons.....lots of scroungng.

Complete motor with Super 6 and clutch $1500cdn, 9.25CR....mebbe 200 HP.

$1500cdn x .86 = $1300US

Yeah right, but I find pointless to mod my head for (I checked prizes today) 850 dollars only for increasing chambers, when I can make a whole swap for a 318 and everything to get it working for 400 dollars!!!

For mill the head is another 500 dollars, and those are mid range prizes for mid range jobs (except the engine swap, that is top job quality).

But if I wantd this kind of head job in any V8 engine, cost is almost cut by half, so anyone tell me is really worth to spend that huge amount of money?, if I got the first 850 dollars I sure go for engine swap and mod my other Duster 318 engine.

that, is a real rip off!

my head work included a .090 shave, 3 angle valve job, oversized valves and heavy springs (including all the mods to make the larger valves fit and work) along with a full port and polish for $806.13.

if your going for all out power versus cost, yes, the v-8 will always be cheaper for add ons......depending on how creative you get with your six. aftermarket parts for a six are few and far between, which raises the cost. V-8 crap is falling out of the trees so it is much cheaper. starting with a v-8 will start you with more power, you so have a head start.

It really comes down to, for me anyway, is how unique you want to be. any shmuck with a wrench and some cash can cobble up a V-8 with power....

To spend your money on a six with a devilish look in your eyes, a feindish grin, and a "lets see how far we can take this sucker" attitude, takes guts and earns you more respect, and allot more attention.

Allot more attention.......that might be in states or outside Mexico, here people look at a old car engine and gets a lot dissapointed when they see a slant six engine, I know that suck but thats the reality here, for that and since I ever wanted a Duster with a V8 I bough my 318 Duster, saddly gas is not cheap to make me only use the V8 Duster, so I´m trying to tune up my slant Duster, but is damn hard to find performance parts for it here and don´t say about intake manifolds!, there is no place in whole Mexico to buy a 4BBL intake.

It´s very true that V8 performance parts are very cheap and mechanics are very glad to work on them, but a simply head gasket change is charged 14 dollars for the V8 and 30 for the slant, and that prize if ´cause is hard to find gaskets for the Slant, so Ford 300 valves will get a slightly notice of performance?

Ford 300 valves are the biggest valve you can install in a slant six cylinder head without notching the combustion chamber.

As far as four barrel intakes go, why not make your own?
