I think the bolt holes are the same, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. Should work fine with a different shifter.

ALERT FOR YOU GUYS WHOSE BELLS ROCK IS HOLDING:

When Lou gives the word rock (me) is going to drop your bellhousings off to Hamilton's that day, if possible. However, some information is needed for your rework! As Lou has said:

"The deal is .... I give them a pile of them to modify to accept the T5 trans (hole-centric adapter plate). Cost will be around $150 for the work. ...
I will also have them make adapter rings to install a Mustang pilot bearing in the back of your crank hub for the T5 input shaft. ... You should let Lou AND me know what crank hub diameters you have, and T5 trans type you will use (input shaft length) V8, V6 or 4cyl. Price might be slightly higher for those small hub crank/pilot spacer rings. If you DO NOT want a crank hub/pilot spacer, then let Lou AND me know. YOU MIGHT WANT TO DO THIS IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TRANS. YOU WILL USE." (emphasis added).

I personally think anyone contemplating this should use the V8, but you are the consumer.

Also, you guys have no deposit made on this work. Once the bells are to Hamilton's, I would be personally bound toHamilton's to pay...so maybe about half the expected total of $150, or a check for $75 from each should be sent to me as time seems imminent for drop off. I would merely endorse your checks over to Hamilton's. Will send PM's to your regular mails, too, but you know how sometimes that doesn't work.

Cheers to Lou!

nah Rock just has a few extras and he lives nearby the shop. I bought one from Rock, and he's just dropping it off.

If you sent your BH to Lou, its still safely with Lou ;)

No worries.

BTW, Rock my BH will be for a V8 tranny, probably 87-93 range.

Rock,

I think the best thing is for ME to be obliged to pay Hamilton's for the work. You should get payment for the bellhousings from Menko and Thropar (??) and then I will pay for the machine work, pick them up, and send them out to Menko and Thropar.

You and I should coordinate drop off, so we can hang and chat for a bit - maybe have lunch in Raleigh??

This will simplify things and not have you get into this complicated payment mess. I have $50 deposits from both Thropar and Menko.

Everyone else's bells are still sitting in my Van waiting for delivery.

Lou

Hey Lou, I'll send the final $150 to you, made out to you? I guess Rock has my BH (the orange paint one I believe) which I purchased from him.

It will be for a V8 T5, and a small hole early crank. Let me know about the price difference for the small hole adapter. I have the early Ford pilot bearing you sold me a while back (early Mustang clutch/pilot bearing).

thanks again for putting it all together!

Thropar,

So maybe you haven't sent me a deposit? I didn't check my list. Just send me $50 for now, becuase I don't know how much the BHs will cost yet. $150 was just an estimate. Or, if you can wait until Monday, I should have the actual total cost figured out.

Lou

Yeah, you got my deposit back in Jan. it's all good. I guess Dennis still has my BH and just needs to hand it in, and you can let me know how much the total is when it's all said and done. Is another payment needed? I can send that in too, just PM me about it.

thx

Fellow Slanters, :D :D :D

I happily went to Hamilton's this morning and picked up the prototype bellhousing with adapter plate mounted. It looks PERFECT. This guy is serious about his work. He apologizes for being so late, but it was worth the wait. He did it just the way I asked.

One piece of bad news is that he underestimated on price a bit. I hope this does not kill anyone, but I will need $230 for each completed piece (just the BH). I really apologize for this, but I was working with his ballpark estimate to begin with. His work really is nice, so I feel it is totally worth it. I know I originally estimated $200 max, so I am very sorry for the rise. As I mentioned before, the pilot bearing adapter rings will be extra ($20-30).

If anyone wants to back out due to the price, I will ship yours back free of charge and refund your deposit.

He said the best way is for him to take 6 at a time, so there will be 3 batches made up. I dropped off the first 6 (in order that I received) to him, and they should hopefully be done in 1-2 weeks. He said he will cut out all 16 more plates plus a few extra right away, so he is committed to doing them all.

The first batch will go to:

gmader
bohmer2
vynn3
Thropar
Slant6Rat
Rob64GT

The second batch will be: James Longhurst, McNoople, dart64rg, Jimluw, Seymour Pederson, Mike Andreas.

When I go to pick up the first batch, I will give him an order for the pilot bearing adapter rings. These are very simple to make so shouldn't pose a problem.

Any stragglers (mpgFanatic, Stoneback, others??) let me know ASAP and get your BH/deposit here. :!:

If I can get my Roadrunner webspace working, I'll post a few pics. This is a great piece and I think everyone will be happy. If we get 20+ Slant/T5 cars on the road, I'll be really happy!

Thanks again,

Lou

Lou does that mean you need $180 more from those of us who paid the deposit? I am working on getting a v-6 tranny and will need the pilor bearing adapter as well.

Brian

Brian,

You are correct. I need $180 from those who have paid deposits already. If you are not in the first group (Brian, you are), then wait to pay me until your group comes up. Again, that does not include the adapter ring, but those will be in the works soon.

Thanks,

Lou

Hi Lou,

Yes I am still interested -

I hope mine did not get lost in the shuffle- I sent it early on, it's the one that has been welded (and shipped with the overkill brace on it) - I 'm going to go the summit route and buy a new tranny from them, so I will be interrested in the adaptor for the v8 - my block is a 1975 -

Many Thanks for this project !!

Jeff
