hello sandy- read your reply about jc whitney carpet for my duster. looked in an old catalog and they have one for my floorshift duster in black orother colors. for 149. like you said . do you have positive experience with their carpet. does it fit correctly without remanufacturing it inthe garage. at that price i would expect it to be perfect. any cheaper source? thanks paladin

No experience....I use houseboat carpet I sew up myself....I need water resistant for those snowboarding days when snow gets everywhere.

Cheaper? than JCW?,,,,,jeeze!

Wow, that is some first-class DIY work you did on the carpet and underlayment replacement. Good pictures, too. Be advised that Gary Goers carries the correct heel pad for in front of the pedals, as well as the correct grommet for the headlamp beam dipswitch.

It looks as if you had your seatbelts re-webbed. Who did that, Ssnayke-Oyl or someone else?

The front seatbelts were just cleaned. (nothing harsh, then I soaked them in Armor-All (soaked, not sprayed))

I added the rears (new, with the old style airplane type latch)

To solve the heel problem I made a set of carpet mats (same carpet) by glueing the carpet to cheap vinyl floormats and edging with the windlace stuff that similiar to what goes around the door openings. Can make new set(s) (most likely just drivers) as the carpet wears out by replacing the carpet part.

Some useful tricks are to melt the edge of the cut carpet with a lighter or candle; and if the edge is visible, to glue and fold the carpet back on itself (clamp the whole edge very tightly, used goop as glue, let dry a day)

BTW, I did glue the carpet down. After making sure it would fit, I would do it in sections by glueing an area down, put some weight on it, let dry, continue.........

BTW2, the penny was found under the rear seat, so I installed it permanently under the rear seat for luck. :wink:
