I think the problem there would be NO boost, since the front cylinders would displace/pump the same amount of air as the rear ones.
Consider; two cylinders pumping 37.5 ci each (on a 225) with every revolution (ignoring VE for the moment) = 2x37.5x2 = 150 ci for two revolutions
versus
4 cylinders pumping 37.5 ci each with two revolutions = 4x37.5 = 150 ci.

Also, you would end up with a weird firing order with irregular power pulses.
