Things arent looking good for me to make the race on Sat. morning. Will hopefully try for the night race if things dont change at work. I think Ron is the only one from our area that will likely make it. That weather sure sounds like some fast racing. This could be the most pleasant weekend of all the racing season. Have fun. |

My impression was that both races will be over by 4-5pm. There is a lot of racing going on in NC this weekend so the normal car count for race cars will probably be down. This should make the racing portion go faster. Tom |

Looks like fantastic weather. I'll be at James L's this eve in Chapel Hill and plan to get to the track around 9-10AM since testing starts at 10:30. Lightin' the fires... Lou |

Had to fight the battle on two fronts today and I couldn't make it Double rats because it was a double race I really wanted to support the first Piedmont show, too. Hope everyone had a good safe time! |

All went well at Piedmont. Great day at a great track. Both races went off without a hitch and nobody broke. Mid 60s weather and clear - nice. Gary Bruner won the 1st race and Ron Hamby won the 2nd. Norman went to the semis in one and the finals in the other? So, Norman clinched the 2006 points race, with Ron H only 10 (11?) points behind and Ron Parker in 3rd. Hearty congrats to our newest points winner Norman Foster! I managed to win 1st rounds in both races, which was a good showing for me. Both of them against members of the Drake family, weirdly enough. Project V ran 9.50s all day with a best of 9.509 @74 on a 9.50 dial in the 1st rnd of the 2nd race. Seymour Pederson brought his 62 Valiant racecar down from MN and claimed the A/gas and B/gas records with 7.25 and 7.33 runs with backups. He was pulling the wheels up on launch. I believe Gary Bruner reset the C/gas record? There was talk of where to hold the banquet this year. I mentioned maybe doing it in Blacksburg, VA (my new home) to allow people from up north (like Ohio, Pittsburgh...) to come more easily. If you are from up yonder, give me a shout if you think you might be interested. I'll look into rooms and such. Revvin' and Racin', Lou |

A big thanks to everyone that showed up and supported the first Piedmont Mopar race. Lots of goooood weather, good racing and good times. There were upsets, close racing and both Ron's gave Big Norm a run for his money. Norm did what he had to do in order to maintain his lead and came out on top. Congrat to all three of you guys. You made this years points race the best one we have ever had and it came right down to the last event!!! The club wants us back next year for both events. For those of you that do not know the club does not make on dime on their event. They donate all of the profits to charity. Ron Osborne told me how much they had donated over the last year and it was amazing. Thanks again for supporting such a good race and a good cause. Tom Drake |

Thanks again to Tom for organizing and to the Piedmont club too for having us. There were 12 cars racing in both races with no breakage. Had a few notable absences which could have made it a much bigger race. 16+ cars should be no problem next year. Lou |

After the Bristol incident we re-ringed the motor and replaced the one piston. For the last 2 years that motor has had a smoking problem and we eliminated everything but the rings. When we fired it up 2 weeks ago it has not smoked since....we lowered the boost to be safe and never got a chance to TnT before Piedmont. I made the first run at Piedmont and the car was WAAY rich.(burning my eyes during the run.) So I made an educated guess at leaning the program out and it was OK for about 4 runs....but as the day wore on(and the air getting slightly worse) it was starting to get richer, to the point it slowed down everywhere including the VRT and 60'. Oh well Tom |
