Oh, gawd, don't let's get into VW electrics (Must...control...fist...of...death!). Total garbage. And yeah, they had problems with (amongst many other things) brake light switches. Wanna know why? Aside from them being VW, I mean? It's because right up through the '90s they were still using those stone-age hydraulic pressure switches the rest of the auto industry gave up on decades ago.
