Ideal tire size for a Duster with 16" wheels?

The cap looks stamped, to me. I think they have a couple of different styles.

I don't see anything special about the center cap mounting that would prevent a local machine shop from machining a new aluminum set to your specs.

As to wheel color, you could probably have those powder coated to complement your car.

Here's (link) a 17" setup that worked on a '66 Cuda.

He used 4 1/4" backspacing, FWIW. <-- Corrected :oops:

Only brought it back from the dead because of the backspacing question above.

I'm just going to order the tire sizing tool from Summit to figure out what I'll need for backspacing and tire sizes, but the more I've thought about it, the more I'm thinking I'll go 17x8" in the rear, and 15x7" in the front. I think once the suspension is all done (wheels & tires will be last) and I have those installed, I can get a REALLY nice stance dialed in and the wheel/ire sizing will look outstanding with (painted) Salt Flat Specials on a beer-bottle-brown paint job.

Beer bottle brown paint ??? That's the color of MY Duster right now....well, that and rust. LOL !!! I'm trying to think of what color OTHER than brown to paint my car, I just don't think I can tell the painter "brown".... I might go with the same color that is on my Neon, Bright Platinum metallic (PS4), but it'll be a while and I'll probably change my mind again.

I hope you'll stay with 16's and not go all the way to the 17's. The 17 inch wheels look just one size too big to me. They just look a little goofy on an old car. You know, almost "Dubbish". We sure don't want that on our A-bodies do we? :) I stopped at 15's on my Barracuda which were still a "classic" size but I think I would have been happier with 16s in the end. Despite what someone said above there is a great selection of 16 inch tires. I'd recommend either 215/60-16 or 225/60-16 tires on a 16x7 inch wheel. Those sizes fit perfectly on a 7 inch wide rim and that keeps your wheel/tire unsprung weight down a bit too. Here's some photos of the painted 15inch Salt Flats on my car before I sold it. (May take a while to load) The fronts were 205/65-15 and the rears were 215'60-15. I tried 225's on the rear but with my narrow A-body and 8-3/4 axle they rubbed. You shouldn't have that problem on the Duster.

It was the combination of the 8-3/4 rear end and thick flanges on the cut down C body axles I had in it to get the LBP. The wider fender/wheel wheels on the wide A-bodies shouldn't be such a problem. I even had to get the custom 4-1/2" backspace wheels from American to make the 215s fit.

Oh Newstalgia Wheel caries plenty of 16 inch wheels.
