I was actually going to make something up after I do my 4 speed conversion I have one of the tackey looking ones its been in all my cars for the past 6 or 7 years works great the only thing I don't like is you have to bent the outer walls out when you put it in so it hugs the hump

For a car with bucket seats, I would think something like the Tuffy consoles would be awesome. 16 gauge steel, lockable, has a DIN sized slot for a radio, and armageddon-proof. Best part is, you'd only have to make a base for something like that to match the hump that you could bolt the Tuffy to.

But for a front bench (I'm planning to keep mine), it's really hard to say wouat'd work and what wouldn't. When I get the 4-spd installed I'll have a better idea as to what would be a good location for a cupholder for an "average" sized guy (I'm 6'1" and built like a golfer). I can help you design one up that could be sold as a kit or something. Just gimme credit for helping with the design :P

In most of our vehicles we have created a handy setup from ABS pipe fittings. To make the cupholder you need the following two pieces of pipe:

Take the plug, or end cap piece and cut off the nub where you would tighten it with a wrench. This will be screwed threads up to the floor of the car with sheet metal screws. The coupler can then be screwed onto the plug, if a mug with a handle is used it is easy enough to cut a notch in the coupler to accommodate that.

This design allows for a stable mounted cup holder that is quickly removable with little or no damage to the vehicle.

no offense curly, but................ no thanks.

I can't drink from anything that reminds me of a sewer pipe!

Jopapa- your cluster is ready and waiting........

and I do have a design in mind, right now I am far too busy working on a 62' cluster for another board member and its taking much longer to draw than I thought!

None taken, it was just a suggestion, I have no problem with it, I'm more concerned about the functionality of it.

This does not cause offense at all. This is a great idea. Some of my redneck friends will make 8 of them and use them for Sunday dishes! They would just call the threads flavor grooves. Plus they could take the ole chainsaw out and cut square holes in the kitchen table so the bottom fits in and then they would be spill-proof. This is an ingenious product. When you going to start marketing?

I'll start the marketing campaign just as soon as I get a couple investors and sponsors on board to help me out financially.

.......maybe this is how I'll pay off the student loan debt before I graduate.......
