Every time I fill up my 74 Swinger, I get backsplash running down the side before the nozzle clicks off. This is an infuriating messy problem! I'd have thought Chrysler would have fixed this problem by this time in the evolution of these shallow fuel filler pipes, but apparently, they ignored everyone's complaints at the time. Has anyone here figured out how to install a fuel restrictor cover w/flap? Based on this thread, it doesn't seem like it.... |

Well, you have it easy 'cause you can just install a fuel filler neck from a '75-'76 Dart or Valiant that was originally catalyst-equipped! Those of us who have no such direct-fit factory-parts option have to figure out where to get a restrictor plate. |

Thanks Dan. I had no idea the 75 and 76 Darts had this restrictor plate. You're saying it would fit on the 74? Can one get them new still, or should I start hunting for a junker? Were they standard on all 75+ models? They must have also required a different kind of gas cap.... |

Not available new, find one from a '75 or '76. Not all of them had catalysts, so physically check for the restrictor. Fuel cap might need changing, just spec for '76 Dart. |
