Well, it's gonna fly or die this weekend. Car is loaded and ready at the house here, just waiting to see what the weather does. It's supposed to rain off and on all day tomorrow and Sunday. It is also right on the edge of being too cold to turn the bottle on anyway. :(

I did give it a couple shots off my concrete pad at the shop today on a 100 shot. It don't feel half bad. As good a guess as I can make from a 5 foot launch would be to say it felt like a mid-14 second launch.

IF the rain holds out and I get to test at 41 tomorrow night it will be at RT66 Sunday with at least a 150 shot on board, and maybe a 200.

It cleared off around 10:30 this morning so I headed to Joliet. When I got there they were still running the first round of Pro time runs, so I took the car to Tech still on the trailer and got my wristband.

Weather was beautiful. Low 70's, sunny, humidity was tolerable, and just a slight crossing tail wind. :D

I made my first time pass and the car just plain felt weak. I had the shift light chipped at 4600, and the light came on in high gear around 1100 feet, but it pulled clear to the end.

R/T...................046
60'.................2.043
1/8th mile.......9:43
1/4 mile.........15:04@89

I got back to the pits and pulled the plugs. Everything looked good, but just to be safe I changed bottles for one I knew was full, and waited for our second time run.

1/2 hour later they called Pro to the lanes for the first round of eliminations.

Not listening to the little voice inside my head telling me to dial 14:70 I dialed at 15:00 because the car felt so weak the first run. There's so many voices in my head that I don't pay any of them much attention anymore anyway.

I draw a guy who has won 2 of the races so far. He's dialed in the low 13's.

R/T............045
60'............1.94
1/8th mile..9:24
1/4 mile....14:879@79 hard on the brakes.

If I had run it out it prolly would have gone 14:75 or so.

I also had the other guy nailed 3 tenths on the tree. I should have dumped him sooner, but I was afraid he was gonna drive around me at the big end.

As it was I shut the motor off at 1200 feet and got on the brakes hard about 1250. :?

I am a little disappointed in the ET gain, but I have done no tuning at all on this setup. I am using the 390DP I bought from Wayne and Dave in Vegas, and it needs a little touch-up as it does have some fuzziness here and there.

I'm also pretty sure I have too much fuel pressure on the nitrous. I will flow it this week and make sure.

Ran the car again without touching it. It ran 14:90's @ 88mph at the Classic in Martin Saturday.

Car went flat at the top of low gear in the second round. Not real sure if I broke the motor (valve springs) or if it is a nitrous issue. I think I may have a plugged nitrous filter.

I really need to spend more time with the car and get some good tuning done. I just plain haven't had the desire to mess with it.

I also found out today that US41, which is my closest track for T&T has closed. Not sure what I will do now.

I'm really considering taking the hose off and running Sportsman out at the RT66 Classic next month.

Well, I pulled the stock motor and footbrake trans a couple weeks ago. I also discovered my nitrous issues. All I will say is that a NOS plate is marked exactly opposite of a Top Gun.

I went down today and removed the battery cables and fuel lines from under the car. I also took out the stock tank, and pulled off my Lakewood slapper bars.

Next weekend the car goes to my buddy's shop to get the subframes connected, springs moved in, and an 8 point bar installed. I'm finally gonna make the car safe to drive at the speeds it will run.

Since I finally broke down and bought a set of 28X9X15 slicks, I am also going to put in my 4.56 gears and spool. Then, the good motor and transbrake trans go in.

I am hoping to finally get to wheel this turd into Super Pro at RT66 next year.

Car will be ready, (hopefully) but I do not have any vacation time yet at work. There is a deal in the works for me to fly in Friday night to drive a Slant car in the race and fly out Sunday night.

My buddy has a bender so we will make our own. I have the hoop out of my 71 Swinger that he is going to try and make fit. :?
