This is the trans that will go into the duster

With all the mods done to it it should run alot better than the stock unit, the input shaft spins with minimal effort or restriction! Still putting money aside for the slicks and the converter but will have them well before the start of the racing season!

I don't understand the need for slicks. Wouldn't the money be better spent somewhere else?

I may or may not need them for the duster but have a dart that i am starting on and it will be strickly a race car.
Also i don't think that i will be able to stall the converter completly on street tires, with the stock converter i have to be carfull or it'll spin off the line. Time will tell im getting the converter first so... :D

It takes practice but you can launch on regular radials pretty hard. I'm getting a 1.89 60 foot on Kumho 215/75/14 tires. A friend of mine runs in the fast class and gets 1.86 60 foots with polyglass repops. They are on a 1970 6 barrel road runner.

At our track, you need any traction assistance available. Just ask my 19 second Dart, spinning the tire through the 330' marks.

Any serious attempt at bracket racing will benefit from slicks. You can make street tires work, but consitency won't be good. Even on ET Streets my junk would vary .05 or so during the day at RT66 or Gateway. It went sideways in second at Coles County.

If you dial in based on a pass that you went a 1.56 60', you're basically dead when it spins to a 1.61 first round.

Ah, so THAT is the car that Ceej drove. Thanks for that info. I was wondering who it was. And thanks for confirming your car. I hope you saw the photos I put in the EVENT area. You will see you in a couple of the Group shots.
