Pretty sure the 2.0/2.4 and the 2.2/2.5 have the same pin size, but I could be wrong.
2.0 Neon engines use an .827" pin. The 2.2/2.5 is .901"

That would be good then, leave room for a bushing to set the rods up as full floating.

Some info from United Engine and Machine...

Hi Joshua The Kb 268 is .222 and the Silvolite is .381. Thanks Tech Dept.

I was hoping you could provide the top ring land to piston crown
dimension for these two pistons. I am hoping to use one or the other in
a stroked slant 6 and need to see if the ring will stick out of the
cylinder or not. The KB268 which I would prefer to use looks like is has
a very high placement of the top ring.

Sincerely,

There is a 1.400 ch piston available for the SRT Neon
Found them. Pin is .866" and it has a 17cc dish. This would require something like a .120 cut to the block and small chamber heads to get close to an 8:1 CR. Cost was $439 for four, don't know if you can buy singles or not, they are Wiseco.

Also found some Venolia's for 2.2/2.5's for $429 for four. At the same place I found Malhe cast turbo pistons for $35 a hole.

If I used a 2.2 piston and de-stroked the crank something like .137 (.0685 per journal) it would work. The head would still need to be cut to a 58cc chamber, or so, but that doesn't seem unreasonable, and the deck could be left virtually alone.

Tried to find out what it would cost to weld and de-stoke the crank to compare the cost to a set of custom pistons, but the only shop I would trust here doesn't do that kind of work. So, don't know what to think about this.

Doc, when you dropped the 198 crank in the 170 block, you said you cut the end counterweights .3", if I de-stroke the crank will that cut need to be .375"?

The reason the end counter weights are cut is to clear the piston pin boss.
The short piston hangs low enough to hit the end counter weights.
You need to mock-up your combo to see how much metal will need to be removed to get clearance.

Kind of what I figured.

Post subject:  Cheap pistons

Today I ordered up some cheap pistons from an auto parts clearing house. They are the early 2.5 piston with the 1.573" compression distance. These will stick out of the deck of my stroker 170 about .070-.090" depending on the deck height of my block. The top ring is far enough down it's still well below the top of the cylinder and the crown should clear the chamber easily. The big concern is valve to piston clearance. Until I get a piston in hand to measure the valve reliefs, determine the deck height, depth of the valves in the chamber and how far the valves are open on overlap I won't know if I have clearance or not. We shall see!
