I spoke with Charles about 2 weeks ago. He is in the process of redoing the Arrow, and detuning it, for his oldest boy to run. His son is going to graduate to the full size cars.

Charles was also the first one to run a 9 second pass with his Slant powered rear engine dragster when the door car guys were still struggling to run 11:50's.

Charles is quite a guy. :D :D :D

Well, I had done all the testing and tuning I could do. Time to take this car out for a race, and I was on my game.

I took the car to New Bern Motorsports Park (about a 15 min. drive from the house) for a little bracket racing. It was an extremely humid night, most everyone was running .10 to .20 off of their usual times. My self, the car had been running 9.00's in the 1/8 and last night (9/22/07) my best pass was a 9.19.

Anyway, My WORST light of the evening was a .565 and the rest of my lights were .519 to .524 (.500 being perfect). I was going rounds and hitting my dial in. Then my converter decided it wanted to fail. I did my burn out, staged the car and when I hit the throttle to leave, it did not move, then suddenly it grabbed and went on down the track. Oh well, cannot win them all and the old slant 6 put several V8's on the trailer...

Here are some photos from the race...

That looks like fun! What size tires to do you run in the back?

These are 10" Mickey Thompson's. I will be going to 9" Hoosiers this coming season.

Are you planning on attending any "Slant Six Points" races in 2008?

Depends. I need to look at the schedule. There is no way I can go cross country but I will likely end up heading to Bristol.

Well, I am hoping to have my car back together by Bristol. What started out as a little adventure has turned into a major overhaul. I have completely cut the floor out of the car and am going to replace it with an aluminum interior. I have purchased a 10 point cage to install as the car never had one. I am replacing the factory hood and trunk with lighter fiberglass replacements. Also I have come up with a completely new engine combination thanks to the help of a few different people. I will hopefully have the car back on the track in a few more weeks and will post photos of the finished product.
