In each cylinder, there is one TDC between the exhaust and intake strokes, and one TDC between the compression and power strokes -- it's that last one you need for distributor positioning.

Please correct me if I'm mistaken, but for purposes of checking the timing mark on the balancer it doesn't matter which stroke it's on; TDC is TDC. For purposes of positioning the distributor one must be certain that it is not 180* out. We were talking about checking the marking of the balancer weren't we? |
