What PowerValve would you reccomend me to get?
Also, what is the stock Power Valve in the Holley 350cfm 7448?

Need to get a vacc. gauge hooked up to the tube at the bottom of the carb so you can see what your highway cruise vaccuum reading is... if it's in the 12-15" range... then a 10.5 is safe (it actually helps in some cases, but if you dip religiously when accelerating into the 9" range we need to back off or your mileage will suffer)...

The old 7448 info I have says it should come with an "8.5" (or 8"... Holley codes the PV's as 1/2 size more...).

I have a very nice Vacc gauge I can hook up, but I don't see a port in the bottom of the carb...where is it located?

I can hook it up to the manifold, will that work?

You can T it in to the choke pulloff (if your carb has one) as that usually sees manifold

I checked today since I had to take the head off, and the only vacuum port on the Holley 350cfm 7448 is the vacuum advance port, and also the PCV port. I will just have to use the manifold for vacuum reading.

DusterIdiot-
I was looking through my Holley 7448 user manual, and it says the stock jets are #61 and the stock Power Valve is 85. I'll go ahead and order #63 jets and a 95 PV.

My head should take a couple weeks to get rebuilt, and once that's done i'll put the carb back on with the stock setup. Since everything is going to be put back together, maybe there was a small vacuum leak somewhere that I couldn't find. If it still runs lean after the head rebuilt, i'll go ahead and throw in the higher jets and PV...the 7448 seems like a very simple carb afterall...not to mention being new it runs GREAT!

I'm having a hard time finding a 'thick' gasket for the 7448 though...the local autoparts stores just have the standard ones. I noticed in your 7448 article you used a thick one, where did you get it? Are you just giving the 7448 part # to the guys at the autoparts stores? The only thing I can find are rebuild kits, or the normal 'thin' gasket...

I don't remember the part number for that one, and didn't write it down... Davis Auto/Baxter's here in Salem has a couple of guys behind the counter that can 'go grab' the gasket you need (need one for a 4300 and 1/2" thick?... "Let me go check back here....").

Probably when I get the BV onto it's next stage I'll be getting another one of those...
