Sure it was... the F-body road runner was nothing like it's B-body incarnation(but it weighed pretty close to one unloaded)... it was mostly a 'stripe' package treatment so an A-833OD and 2.94's aren't going to motivate a highly recalled vehicle (with nasty restrictive smog equipment, and lazy timing curve to boot) to any extreme...So far I'm pretty happy day to day driving with the A-833OD and 3.55's... I think the next build will be with 3.91's or 4.11's (and if I ever can find myself a nice Dodge Short bed 1/2 ton with a slant, I think a set of 4.56's and the A-833OD would be fine for driving with not much load/towing...) -D.Idiot |

I'm not trying to make anyone angry or am I by any means implying you CAN'T use a T5 but it is my opinion there are better options for a truck. I agree that T5's are a good choice for A bodies even with turbos or nitrous but all T5's aren't created equal and theres no reason to use one thats not as good if they cost the same amount especially if you have future plans for power adders. The 300hp 400ft# thing was a joke but you shouldn't imply it can't be done. If someone were to do it in a truck that thay intended to tow with I do feel that an NV4500 would be the best choice for a 5 speed....but still it was a joke |

![]() ....do you know how big one of them is? Do you know what they cost? I suspect you have read all this stuff somewhere and are just quoting what you heard. |

Their huge, weigh about 195#,cost less than a Gear Vendor OD As far as regurgitating the suggestion your welcome to search but I doubt you'll find a single reference to an nv4500 behind a slant because nobody is going to build the hypothetical truck I recommended it for. |

Thanks all for the many different opinions! First of all I will never put a V8 in this truck. I have no need for the extra power. If I did it wouldn't be for speed (why would I be driving a D150? I'd be driving my Duster!) it would be for towing or hauling heavy thus a 4bt or 6bt (Cummins Diesel) would be the only option in my eyes. I've had 440's, 426's, 392's, 383's , 360's, 273's (no 340 what ashame) etc.. they were fun but sorry, not very practical in this day and age-for me. If I was going to spend a whole lot of coin I'm afraid my passion for the /6 would be out weighed by an oil burner. That being said I have a garage full of /6 parts, 3 engines, 2 auto transmissions that I'm not ready to give up yet and I really do like the motor. If I can enhance the mileage inexpensively such as Sandy recommended I just may do so. The NV4500 is a rock of a transmission that I am familiar with. I rebuilt one a few years back in my Ramcharger. But the granny 1st gets tiresome if you are not towing or rockclimbing! Nor do I feel this trans will deliver any more mileage than the 904, given it's extra uneccessary bulk for my application. Thanks again, Dale |
