My guess is the intake cross section is to small to feed the engine properly.

At what rpm are you basing this guess on?
Over 4000 rpm?
4500 rpm?

It is obviously enough up through 3000 rpm.
To get to 3000 rpm is a heart beat away.

Exactly, your guess.
I also guess a garden hose will flow less than a fire hose.

AT,

This will be on a turbocharged motor at a max of 6000rpm

Here is what I'm talking about. The intake maifold's cross section is the same for the length of all the runners. In the below image you can see the witness marks of just how much larger the stock ports are on the head than the intake. A simple gasket match will not help this condition. For a performance slant 6 this is a choke point.

This is a shot of my stock offy intake with the carbon witness marks from the stock intake ports. The posterboard cutout now represents the size of my ported head.

1) I have a Clifford 4bbl intake that I'm porting to the size of factory ports to see how much it picks up over the Offy intake. In stock form, the Clifford has a bigger cross sectional volume over the Offy.

2)I will port the intake fully for the head/new engine (if a new rod length is ever agreed upon with K1)

I agree, I have had the same thoughts about my head and Offy intake. I'm going to work with what I have (aka I'm a poor college student and can't go buy a Clifford intake). What's the best/most effiecient/quickest/easiest way to open up the runners on the Offy intake, if it's even possible. I have exactly the same problem-head port is significantly larger than intake port-just like in your pictures.

Anyone know how well the new Australian intakes will match up?

All I know is they measure 35mm tall by 28mm wide.
