these are not 2.2 pistons though Doc. these are pistons they have at the "0" deck compression height that they can set up at a lower cost for our set up/rods. i sooo cant wait.

Where (country) are these rods & pistons going to be made?

As long has he's going up to at least 3.485", then most of the racers should be interested. I'd say the 3.445 - 3.485" would be the most popular range if you only want to do a 1mm range.

Thanks,

Lou

The rods are coming form China for sure.

I spoke to Brian. We are leaning towards a 3.4645 piston to fit a good set of rings for my turbo application.

I'm going by memory on that piston diameter.

Dan, there was a thread on Moparts a while back about Tom's parts. Consensus was that quality was excellent.

Reason people are excited about is they knew these good stuff were assumed to be made in USA for good price till someone mentioned it's produced from china and to that reply, one said Poop!! That's the reason.

Heed that because it is GOOD to pay 500 bucks within USA but if you are sending to the reseller of custom parts and sending the little to the makers in China then we don't quite approve.

Cheers, Wizard

The parts are designed and finished here in the U.S. but some of the machining is done off shore to keep the cost down. We could do all of the machining here but at somewhere around $2,000 per set, not many people would buy them for a slant. The bottom line is, there are a lot of people making rods and cranks off shore but the K1 line is the best of the group for quality and I do not know of anyone in the rod business that has been making and designing rods longer than I have. I am also happy to report that out of all of the rods we have sold, we have yet to have anyone report a failed K1 rod or crank in any application including some heavy hitting all out race engines. Yes, some of the work is done off shore but these are not cheap copy cat parts that some of the others are bringing in.

I see. That's the bane of machine shop overcharging, This will hurt mine as well as I wanted my 2.5L block machined for part of custom rebuild engine.

Carry on and really appreciate your efforts.

Cheers, Wizard

K1Tom, thanks for the explanation. I did not intend any slight on you, personally. My remark comes as a result of extensive extremely bad experience with China, across a wide range of knowledge and intention on the part of the non-Chinese who farmed work out to the Chinese.

Actually, we have all seen poor workmanship coming in from foreign countries but it is usually due to those who only want to make cheap parts. While we do hold down costs by having some of the machining done offshore, we have very strict quality standards that we demand are met. While we do not sell seconds or rejects, there are several companies who do sell what we would reject. You can find less expensive parts than ours. A phrase that we use is: "You can spend a little less and get a lot less for your money or you can spend a lot more and get only a slightly better part. We sell high quality parts at a reasonable price."

That is all 100% reasonable to me. Thank you for speaking up and talking about your business philosophy.
