I just called Chinazone and they carry the Rislone. so I'll be trying that tonight. I might also try an engine flush soup that I found somewhere on this forum or another Mopar site. It was a mixture of Kroil, ATF, Berry something or other and Marvins' mystery magic stuff. I probably substitute the kroil with something else since I can't every find it in local shops. |

If you do not want to change any parts, loosen the rocker arm shaft enough to remove the pushrod that is riding on the ticking lifter. Inspect and clean-out the push rod's thru hole then use it to "plunge" that lifter, while you drizzle oil (or 'magic solution' of choice) down the push rod hole and into the lifter. This procedure could (may-be) unclog / free-up the collapsed lifter. DD |

The Rislone did the trick! Drained about a quart of oil and put that stuff in, and after 3 minutes at the most the tapping went away. I then drained the oil and refilled with one quart Marvin's mystery, one quart ATF and 3 quarts oil w/new filter. I drove the truck about 10-15 miles came back and drained it, refilled with oil and one last quart of ATF and new filter, ran that at idle (and for a bit at maybe 1500 rpm) for about 15 minutes. Then drained, new filter and refilled with oil. The engine really smoothed out after the flushing. Now my next question. Why isn't the new tach I installed working! But I'll start a new thread for that. THanks for the suggestions! |

Sam, That is quite a flush job! Glad the Rislone cut the crude...... On the tach, you gotta have a good ground and good power source. Hopefully you ran a new line all the way to the coil. |

Its grounded at the battery terminal and the green wire runs from the tach directly to the coil. The power (+12v) I tapped off the fuse box. When I start the engine, the tach needle jumps to 0 rpm and just stays there. So i don't know whats going on. I sent an email to SunPro tech support, but I haven't heard back yet. |

Yup,it is. Someone suggested to me that the coil wires may be switched. According to him the engine will still run this way. so i'll try putting the green Tach wire on the '+' side and see what happens... |

That was the problem! the coil wires were switched. I switched the coil wires, put the tach back on the neg side and now everything is kosher. |
