i sent him the pictures you had so he had a reference to the 1232. and a picture of my exhst manifold which had the two bolt hole mounting. when i mounted it with one bolt and the tab going into the toher bolt hole, there was no way that push rod was connecting to the carb

the electric choke itself should still work fine. I can now make the push rod connect to the carb. i just need to know where in that "half moon"
of movement on the choke mechanism the tension should start.
10 oclock. 12oclock 2 oclock what do you think?

Seems I may owe you an apology; in response to your troubles with Rymal I did some digging and found he has managed to create quite a collection of unhappy customers, not just with chokes. Reproduction Buick valve covers fraudulently sold as NOS at inflated prices, fuel pumps sent in for rebuild that come back visually trashed, that kind of thing. All of this is thirdhand via the internet, of course, but beyond a certain volume of complaints it makes you go "H'mmmm". Damn sad when good vendors go bad. :-( For now, I am withdrawing my recommendation to shop with Rymal. I did call him up and he said he thinks I might be telling people to order the wrong kit. That'd be odd, because it's the kit I've been ordering, but per his request I've sent him an e-mail with the various p/ns I have on file for the various slant-6 chokes, and he said he'd look at it and correct it if necessary. We'll see what comes back. For what it's worth, I contacted CarbsOnly (see this post) and they report they have five of the #1232 kit in stock at $39.

As for your question of where (clock position) the tension should start: Impossible to answer.

Wow. I got to hand it to you Dan. You are to be commended for going above and beyond. Most would never have picked up a phone and called that guy much less researched it. Your professionalism and quest for knowledge are admirable. We're lucky to have you as a resource. Thanks for getting back to me on that

As for the choke: Got it hooked up. I understand how it works now. Came off just a litte too soon. So I will adjust some more when i get home off the road. We're way up North this week close to your border

Take care Dan. God bless

Keni

I contacted Rymal a few months back and he wanted $55. I didn't notice at the time but he didn't know what a two barrel or a BBD was then either.

I have been eager to try one of the 2bbl versions of this choke (#1232) and ordered one from Carbs Only on Thurs 9/18. It arrived on Sat 9/20. Cost me $48.70 incl shipping. It is a very nice unit! It was easy to hook up. And it worked exactly opposite to how it should (it closed the choke more tightly as the engine got hotter!) It took me awhile (duh) to figure out that the bi-metal spring had been installed upside down and would move the rod up (closed) as the heat grew instead of down. It was easy to reverse. BTW this thing doesn't look like it would fit my super six but it snapped in perfectly.
