Yes, both the ignition module and voltage regulator are the same. The control module dosn't care if its switching six or eight cylinders. Try to get a Standard brand, in fact try to get Standard ignition for all your tune up parts. Echlin from Napa is ok also. To be honest, I've never had a problem with Neihoff products either....the one I use on my Satellite is also Made in USA. I and many others like NGK spark plugs. If you can, for now, find a Holley 1920 carb. The Holley 1945 your car has (or should have) now are finiky and impossible to get "just right". Have fun and welcome!

Have fun and welcome! thanks for the info when i torn down my cuda i have the ele ign box and VR for that which org. came from a 72 monoco the i wasnt planning on reuseing anyway so i'll check out the pins and try them out

The 1945 carb is not "impossible to get just right". A carb in good condition is better than a carb in bad condition. 1920s, 1945s, and all the other slant-6 carbs (and all carbs in general, for that matter) have their own design and build strengths and weaknesses. If it were down to a choice between a used/worn 1920 and a brand-new 1945 jetted correctly for the application, I'd take the 1945 without a second thought! Which carb to pick for this particular car depends on whether the owner wants to stay with a 1bbl or go to a 2bbl, whether the catalytic converter is staying or going, and other factors. In any event, never buy a "remanufactured" carburetor from the parts store; they're junk. Standard Ignition's premium BlueStreak line is always a safe bet, and is generally the best pick for most ignition components...but for the rotor you want a NAPA Echlin MO-3000. The tan one with the extra-long tip.

Its a 5 pin, used with a dual ballast resister just like in your '76. Hey, the '72 Monaco had the conceled head lights, right?

That's not my opinion you dug up back there, that was me tweaking Jon Dahlberg's screwy nose. I used to think 1945s are all junk, but that's an over-simplification. Most of them were underjetted to try to choke the engines through Federal emission certification tests...jet 'em properly for the engine they're trying to feed, and they can work well.

I agree with Dan on the 1945's. I rebuilt mine and got a jet 6-8 numbers up and wow the car was a beast! if you go the Autozone route for a bbd take it for me and tear it a part, clean it well and check for tiny little pellets of alu. oxide that they use to clean them. A year of cussing and thats what the problem was. they were everywhere and clogging everything. Now, may I dare say, she purr's and Im looking at 20+mpg.
