I also agree that a forged piston is the way to go in a maximum effort race motor. However, when subjected to what my hyper piston in that picture saw, a forged piston would still have been junk. It may not have been in two pieces, but it would have failed.

My piston is a perfect example of what happens when you get greedy and use a bad tune-up.

Lou,
Thank you for the correction in terminology. Silicone is the wrong term(sorry my error).
I would like to take the oppertunity at this time to offer to the group a Group buy in to try out some CP pistons! I am welcome to everyone's ideas and I form the rules for the buy in if there is enough interest. You can also reach me here mlozano@cppistons.com

Mike, I would suggest you start a new thread, for the CP piston group buy discussion.

I totally agree that forged pistons are the way to go for a high effort motor. No arguments there at all. I also agree with Doug's point that cast pistons can handle some abuse in a Slant as I have a couple of motors to attest to that.

Lou
I'll second this. The forged piston will be more dense (heavier) than a cast one, just like crankshafts. IME, the forged piston fits looser in the bore making the engine sound like a coffee can full of rocks until it gets to operating temperature.
