Sadly, both of my Ancher brand motor mounts came from India...they where all I could find (good luck finding B body mounts for a slant six). Had one fail already.

Yup, those $7 mounts someone on here was so proud of having found are sloppily made in India, evidently of compressed cow poo.

You might check with Old Car Parts Northwest ; they have a lot of NOS American-made motor mounts.

I'll do that. Hopefully he'll have the correct passenger side, not one for a slant C body like most books I've seen listed.

I guess you are refering to me. I still stand by my statement. A $7.99 cowpoo mount is still better then no mount at all, or one that is broken already. Maybe if someone else would make a quality mount (Imperial Services?) I would change my tune. As far as I know all the mounts available for the early "A" bodies with a slant are made in 3rd world countries like India. The exception would be NOS mounts from companies, like you refer to. But buyer beware. A NORS ( new old replacement stock), like many on e-bay, etc. are no different from the ones on motomountz.com

PS: The ones in my cars are still fine, but they are not daily drivers, and the mounts do not get oil soaked.

Charrlie- Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree with you that a cow poo mount is better than no mount at all...I'm not ranting at you, I'm ranting at the existence of cow poo mounts.

Eric- go take a drive to Old Car Parts; they're not far from you. Not only worth seeing, but you will likely have better results getting what you need, because the mounts are not super-well organised.

I didn't take it the wrong way. I just wanted to clarify the situation, for any one else. I cannot see spending a lot of money for the same mounts that are available for $7-$8.

PS: have you heard any more about the "good" mounts?

hi sages- thanks to dan and others for the pecking order lists. good to see mexico way up on the list of quality remans. many of the sl6 pumps i have recently seen, come from there. the rebuild process would appear to just involve pressing out the bearing, holder and inner gaskets and pressing in a new set. would also appear that the seat would have to be cleaned up and smoothed. tough part might be forcing off and back the impeller or drive mounting(for fan ) on the otherendo of the shaft. has anybody actually rebuilt one of these pumps? since the bodies probably havent been made new for years, doesnt that make all thats out there rebuilts. are my observations correct? bob f

I ABSOLUTELY put the US first because keeping my dollars within the borders when possible to do so is important to me. Engineering wise, 1&2 are equal and 2 should include the land of Oz.

now wait a minute danno- are you telling me that these foreign venues are manufacturing new parts, ie waterpumps. that would mean new pump bodies and not body cores with new inserts. im probably dead wrong , but are these folks forging their own pump bodies? sounds unlikely. also is it feasible for a backyard mechanic to rebuild his own shot pump onthe bench. did that once in 69 to an alternator. only cost me 3.99 for the bearings and brushes, but it wasnt time efficient. besides holding back those brushes was aggravating and led to inappropriate adjectives. thanks bob f

American companies have been building factories in any country that will let them and that has cheap labor and weaker environmental laws for years.

Bob, I have had good luck with most "new" water pumps. They are new, including the casting. The Advance Auto Parts pump for the slant is "assembled in the USA" of USA and import parts. Cost is $25, and I would not have a problem using it.

PS: I do not use reman pumps at all, unless there is no "NEW" one available. Also as you found out, it doesn't pay to rebuild your own. Too much time fining the parts and doing the job, for the savings involved.

Hello everybody, of course you can find some new parts for a
slant six made here in mexico like SlantSixDan says i live in
mexico city and have a volare 78 (slant six super six), and
eight months ago i have to replace the water pump and actually it
was very easy to find that part brand new, also 3 months ago i
changed my fuel pump and that also was really easy to find again
brand new, of course you are not going to find every piece
(for example a couple of years ago i had an accident because of a stupid drunk driver and my grille was damaged and 2 years later i cant find a new
one) but there is a manufacturer here that actually is making new
grilles for the dart and he also makes the tail lights for different years
of volare and dart (of course the quality of these ones is not as good
as an original tail light but they cost at the current exchange rate
like 15 dollars and the grille costs around 50)

By the way i know this is completely off topic but i was wondering why i so dificult for tdifficulte of other countries to find the super six version of the slant six?, i am asking because here in mexico was a very common engine for example when my mom bought this car in 1978 she didn't ask for a special version or a deluxe version, actually this car was the cheaper version of the volare(it didn't even included a radio), so
i was just curious after reading the history of the slant six and i was surprised to see that the supersix was a special version of the engine

im going to mexico and gettin some super sixes!
