wow thanks for the the replys for another meet, i'm so down to filling the parking lot with cars and opening up the bay doors in warm weather for our cars. i am cool with any date you guys want, it just has to be a sunday. reed was talking about we need a project for the next meet, ... i'm voting we try to fix some cars or rebuild an engine or somthing. i have a spare engine that i could donate as a project. plus we have a lift, a pit and no shortage of tools. so we could do somthing ..... hotdog and hamburger BBQ in the parking lot w/ cold sodas everyone is welcome to show up! i'll see how biz is @ the shop maybee we can swing a few free oil changes, or some kind of perk or prize. |

I thought it would be fun if someone or several someones identified a problem with theitr car that needed to be fixed, and that could be fixed in the afternoon, and everybody chipped in to get it done. I don't know what the selection criteria would be to determine who/what is eligible, but it might be fun. |

How about a dizzy recurve for an old brain dead half crippled sob who cann't even find a good dizzy to start with let alone figure out what the heck he's doing. Wait, what were we talking about? I can supervize as long as somebody tells me what we're doing. |

It's a really long shot, but there is an outside chance — depending on luck, skill, timing, phase of the moon, and the price of chocolate chip futures — I might actually show up to this meet in a slant-6 car. If so, and if anyone'd be interested in doing up an EI (or HEI) conversion...! |

I have a spare good 1974 slant six EI distributor. It needs a new vacuum advance pod, but those are only about $10. I would be happy to bring my piston stop tool so we could verify where your timing mark should be, and I would be happy to bring my dial-back timing light so we could map out what spark advance curve you have and the spark advance curve of the 74 dist. In my brother's van I ended up using a stock 74 Valiant distributor with the base timing advanced to 6-8 degrees. Big heavy vehicles like vans like slower advance curves.Does that sound like a plan to everyone? I might bring the intake, carb, and HEI ignition system I have been meaning to put on my 5th Ave and do that swap, if I haven't already gotten to it. I need to get that lean-burn system out of there, but I just keep getting dumped on with work... It would be great to finally meet Dan, after all the conversations we have had online. |

I would be glad for a few things here:1. Finally get to meet one of the masterminds on the board.. yay! 2. I would definitely help with an (H)EI conversion. I haven't done a HEI one yet, but would love to get my hands dirty doing it! 3. Get to see alot of others I missed out on last time. ~THOR~ |

I'm down with it Neil,3rd sounds good for me.Reed as far as doing a recurve dizzy for me would be nice but don't worry about it. Just hanging and kickin tires, chewing the fat would be good. How's the old song go,"Prop me up beside the jukebox..with a cold beer in my hand",you get the idea |

Sure thing, but checking TDC and mapping the dist cruve on your van is actually quite easy. Recurving it takes little more than popping the distributor out and disassembling it. Heck, I would recomend starting by just swapping this 74 Valiant distributor in and driving it around to see if you like it or not. Fine tuning the vacuum advance is something you can do slowly by yourself since all it takes is driving and turning an Allen wrench. I will bring all the tools and we can decide whether or not to change anything that day. |
