Even on stock intake? Like the carbed 2.2 intake? The plenum size in these is also large. About 1/2L to roughly 3/4 of a liter. I get sag at light tip in, but if I get flow going, well like the amount of throttle that would make engine gag like at small tip in is sufficient for cruising speed. Cheers, Wizard |

I used the same 750 "E-brick" that I was running on the other manifold. Yes... If I step down on the CFM the off-idle responce is likely to pick-up a bit. Like I said... I bet I can get this unit to work better by spending some time (and $$) on it but that will have to wait for another day. Along with the need for linkage mounting points, the Auzzyspeed people should think about extending the runners up into the plenum a little more, that would help make the manifold more off-idle and mid range responsive. So Doc, I will ask THE stupid question. What if a guy were to divide the plenum on the hurricane and reposition the carb, primaries toward valve cover...... |

Dividing the plenum and turning the carb "sideways" is what I would do next... if I owned this manifold. That is what I did to the reproduced H-pak manifold to get it working better with a full throttle "hit" from idle. DD |

I thrashed on the race car all last week and switched back to my divided plenum H-pak, then we went racing at Sanoma. (Infinion race) The car is back to taking a full throttle "hit" and leaving hard. I made 5 passes, the first one was a 13.17 with some high RPM "popping", that went away after changing to a clean set of spark plugs. The best time for the weekend was a 12.70 at 104.5 mph, with a 1.79 60 ft time. The car feels the same as before the intake swaps. So now I look for some better ETs in different places... It never really ends when it comes to running a fast racecar. DD |

Doc could you give us your overall opinion of this intake. Cost. Street? Strip? This intake as compared to Offy/Clifford offerings? You know a consumer's report type of thing.  This might be helpful to guys that may be thinking of joining in on Lou's future group buy. Thanks, Wayne.

Over-all, the Hurricane is a nice SL6 4 bbl performance intake. As I have shown with my testing, it is not the best choice for dragstrip work but it would work well for all other uses where you do not need to go from full closed to full open throttle... instantly. (drag racing) This intake does not have manifold heat so cold weather operation is going to be hard. The manifold does not have a linkage kit and it's lenght does not lend itself to easy installation of automatic trans kickdown linkage. This is not a concern for manual trans cars but you need to be able to fabricate some linkage brackits... no matter what you use the manifold on. DD |

Factory H-pak runners are not larger then Hurricane runners. Dutra "Fat-pak" manifold runners are larger. DD |
