Sorry for answering this late; since I recently started in my present job I had to work most of these days when people are taking the holidays off. I appreciate all the clues given and I’m also learning a lot. I don’t have power brakes, and even when I thought of putting one, just because I have to turn the air filter housing around plus what I have just learnt that it might shut off the engine in case of a leakage, I quit. I couldn’t find anything plugged in the carburetor. My car doesn’t have a RPM gauge but the difference between in gear and out gear seems about normal; anyway, my engine shut off while engaged, whether turning or breaking (breaking is taking a little bit of a turning because it urgently needs changing some wheel cylinders that are not working evenly or not working at all). The gas tank had enough fuel when that happened; of course it is useful to start checking the elementary things first. And following your advice, I replaced one of the vacuum lines and since then my engine has not stopped any more. Thanks to everyone. |
