this one was originally sunfire yellow with a black vinyl roof. We plan to paint it Dark Jade metallic with a white vinyl roof and a white tail stripe. The interior will stay stock with the white vinyl and black.

Somewhere along the way on this project, you might want to consider an upgrade to the brakes. New driver + some extra power + 60s brakes = potential problems.
That Dart probably didn't have anti-sway bars from the factory. Front bar is a really good idea. I run a front and rear on my Valiant, and while I like it, a heavy rear bar does make the car tend toward over steer. Might be a hand full for a new driver.

I used to have a '69 Valiant 100 225 automatic as my daily driver for 3 years and am quite familiar with those horrible 9" manual drum brakes.

Hey, two big things I would like to throw into this is not to go to big on the cam and pump up the compression. Otherwise I would agree with Charlie and do a very stock rebuild. I know lots of guys like the big valves, and blah blah which is nice. But everyone needs an engine to learn from and this could be it! A nice easy torque cam and new bearings will be very nice. Also, shave the freakin head and give it some compression, be explicit that you want .100 or so off because I've been chasing my tail with my engine and have finally chased it back to the machine shop who argued with me over this and obviously didn't give me enough compression. Good luck!

I disagree with just telling the machine shop to mill .100 off the head. Measure and determine the correct amount to mill, to get the compression ratio desired. In this case (a very mild hop up daily driver) I would say about 9-1, with a mild cam, or a little less with a stock cam. More then that gets you into the realm of pinging or premium fuel.

Thanks mopork,no air shocks or traction bars but the side pipes on the /6 will be in soon. I did all the suspension first,all sbp disc and 8 3/4. Have fun.

Agreed. I picked up mine from someone on ebay about 3 years ago. I also collected the front end parts for about 2 years. Tublar upper arms,re-enforced lowers w/ welded plate,replaced everything except the drag link.
