okay well now that i have tested the waters as to how much is realisticly achieveable by my slant while keeping it N/A and without boring it. what im thinking is a centrifugal supercharger to keep it all under bonnet with significant power gain or 4bbl carb or triple webers keeping in mind i want nice streetability but good power |

A unit like this will cost around 3k ![]() I have a mild built engine and a heavy car that runs high 16 low 17 depending on the track and air, I don't think i will hit three hundred even with the supercharger but maybe i'll prove my self wrong. The cheapest route would be to find a used turbo and fab it to work with a blow thru carb, not too dificult and there are some good web sites out there to help too. TF |

No It's a coolcharger from my work bench The hardest part is finding the exact build you want! And they all will boggle the mind when you pop the hood. P.S. Coolchargers is out of buisness i think but similar to the procharger. |

I want it more sort of streetable then anything else nice to drive, not a pig, but when you open it up it goes, and really gallops. ET down strips and stuff like that don't bother me really i want it to have the old school feel, but with a few modern touches little aesthetic things i want it to trample most 6's and even small V8s |

you'll find quite a bit of information on turbos out there. A good site is the turbomustangs.com site and forum. I've been reading over there for months and haven't scratched the surface. They aren't only Mustang related. Several members here frequent that forum. Just remember not to come on too strong before reading up there. They'll pin you to the wall with a nail gun if you post before studying up. There is also the turbo mopar forum. I bought my hybrid turbo and intercooler off that forum for decent money. Someday I might even bolt it to something. Superchargers are something else all together. For street-able power think turbo. That's what Cameron runs. CJ |

Quote: I want it more sort of streetable then anything else Sounds like my type of Slant 6...........actually it sounds like my Slant 6, and many others. You won't need 300hp to do what you want, especially in a VC that weighs in at around 2800lbs which is lighter than many modern cars. nice to drive, not a pig, but when you open it up it goes, and really gallops. ET down strips and stuff like that don't bother me really i want it to have the old school feel, but with a few modern touches little aesthetic things i want it to trample most 6's and even small V8s Just to give you a real world example. My old Valiant is just over 1 sec quicker on the 1/4 mile than my friends 2004 VY SV6 Commodore. Looks like this for you guys in the US. ![]() The Commo is heavier and has only 204HP. And to use a classic Aussie 1970's muscle car example, the 350 V8 HQ Monaro GTS could do the 1/4 in 16.4 sec back in '72. There's a lot of Slant 6's around that can better this by a long way. That 350 engine had 275HP, and the car weighed just over 3200lbs. The point I'm trying to make is don't be hell bent on getting 300HP to have a V8 killer Slant 6, you can do it with less. And it's sooooo much fun showing up the V8 guys with a 6. Anyhoo, back on topic. Can I ask why you don't want to bore the block?? As mentioned previously you really should at least true up the bores, especially if you are planning on running boost. You should also post this question on MoparMarket in the Slant 6 section if you want some feedback from our side of the Pacific. But I think you'll get similar responses. |

No I'm not saying that, I'm just saying that you don't need 300HP to achieve your goal to "trample most 6's and even small V8's" Having said that, I'd love to see a N/A Slant 6 pushing out 300HP. Click here to see what can be achieved with a N/A Slant. It's totally un-streetable but very impressive none the less. |

From my exercise and the Dual webers ....yes yes yes yes I am busy with it Induction, exhaust, ignition, Valve train- everything that hooks on to the slant head has a power impact. 300hp is possible but as stated - it is rather difficult to achieve NA. I focused on getting my Torque and HP curves as wide an fat as possible. This means - better cam better valves, ported and flowed head, better induction system , header exhaust system.... and a good solid short block |

Ray, it is poor etiqiite to "hijack" a thread. It would be better to start a new post. It gets confusing trying to answer two different questions in the same thread so we will spit yours off. Thanks
Can I get any comments on this recipe? thx, Ray |

Personally - leave the comp - they have a reputation for chewing up slant oilpump drives, consider the Iskederian pn 152116 - a 264 .448 lift 46 overlap or the erson 270 I have the isky - VERY nice |

Here's a 320 hp slant 6 that Mopar Muscle put together: http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/tech ... index.html They don't say how much they spent, but it sounds very expensive. |
