What a surprise to get a phone call tonight that Bristol ran today!!! We had the Bristol Race on our calendar for Sept 18-20! We even watched the Bristol "roll call", over the past couple of weeks, but never noticed the "updated" date in the header line... I wish the 2009 race schedule (on this website) had been updated. Sorry we didn't make the race! Congrats to Norm on the win!

By the way... Does anyone have any information on the Clay City Race?

I was at the Longhurst celebration yesterday, but stopped for a few passes with the Slantkota and good conversation on Saturday. Norman won the race - text msg from Elaine right before James and Beth's ceremony started. I think Sara Charapich was 3rd (her 1st race!) and Larry Chesney was 2nd. 9 cars??

We couldn't figure out why Hamby's weren't there. I should have called to see - bummer...

One more left this season - Clay City, KY on Oct 3-4...

Lou

According to mpdragway.com the Clay City Mopar race is October 9-11 this year. Don't miss it!

That is a real bummer that Hamby's missed Bristol, and I don't want to miss Clay City due to a similar SNAFU!

Thanks for pointing us to the mpdragway.com (Clay City, KY) dragstrip site. Oct 9-11 is their listing.

NORM AND/OR Ron Parker, can you guys check with Clay City and confirm this date?

I will change the schedule in Doug's "schedule" post and start a rollcall for Clay City.

Thanks everyone!

Lou

Clay city Oct 9- 11 on there web site. the race is Saturday and the purse is good. The bristol mopar event was posted over two months ago. I got a card over a month ago from bristol. But Ron Hamby did not suffer no harm on the points race. But You better be at Clay City because I can catch you. Thanks Ron Parker :D

Thanks for confirming, Ron. The Bristol date was posted here correctly at least back to May, so you know the Hamby's plan Waayyyy ahead...

I'll be at Clay City for sure, and my Slantkota is ready to tow so I should even have 2 cars there.

D, it did run faster with the trans/conv swap - 10.60 @66.5MPH and 16.54@82.8 MPH. Shifted at 5000 RPM, 4600 through the 1/4 mi traps in 2nd gear! 2.76 rear gears and 25.4" tire... Best at Wilkesboro with better air and track was 10.76 @64.8 MPH. I still haven't tuned timing or carb at all. My guess is another 2-3 tenths there. Cam swap should get me into the 15s with it...

James and Beth Longhurst had a fabulous wedding on Sunday, complete with music from Christine and Lou...

Cheers,

Lou

Ron, Clay City should be pretty exciting. I look forward to seeing everyone there. I definitely have it marked on my calendar.

Thanks Ron everybody at Bristol was concerned about something that came up suddenly and you could not make it. I guess we should have called you but every body thought you would be there Saturday or possibly Sunday. I guess everybody made a mistake. We woint let this happen again. Thanks Ron Parker

Lou, I seriously doubt it. I am out of single days I can take for vacation and don't really have the money either.

I could be a spoiler though, since I am a Killer Bee.

Not sure how that worked out since I am pretty far east of the Mighty Muddy.
