I am not sure how the A833 will react with synthetic motor oil but DO NOT use synthetic gear lube. I have this mind set that I can't seem to get over that thicker is better and thick synthetic is even better. Anyway, I put Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube 75W-90 in my A833OD and the car would not down shift to 2 or first without crunching the gears and the shifting action over all was quite stiff.

I changed to ATF and no more gear crunch and the shifting quality overall improved tremendously. I have heard the complaints of increased noise with ATF but I have heard no difference in the noise level.

BTW, my 89 Shelby Daytona with the heavey duty Gatrag 5 spd tranny specified 5W-30 motor oil for the gear box. Again my thicker is better mentality caused me to switch to 20W-50 at the first gear box oil change. I drove down the road and back and immediately drained it out. I could not down shift from any gear with out significant gear crunch. I have now had Mobil 1 5W-30 synthetic motor oil in the gear box for 140,000 trouble free miles.

FWIW, ATF with some of the leak stop aditive that they sell for auto trannies may slow your leak down better than thicker oil.
