oh hahahaha i thought thats what you ment, just making sure. theres a f150 in the yard close to me with a straight 6, not sure if its a 300 but i will check it out tomorrow. what all from it do you think one would need off a 300 to make FI possible on a slant ??? just fyi the mopar SOHC and DOHC 2.0l's use a internal exciter wheel on the crank, with a crank sensor stuck in the side of the block,

I was under the impression that OBD II started in '97.

Could very well be true, but I have read several sources that said Fords got them in 96. Like I said earlier, I need to get the factory parts books for 95 and 96 and see what, exactly, was used to make the 300s MAF injected.

Volare4life- The F150 will be a 300. Ford didn't but any smaller inline sixes in their full size trucks. You would need quite a bit off of it, and then you would have to do some custom machining on the slant six and fabricate a new fuel supply and return system. I am not comfortable giving anyone a shopping list at this point since I do not know for sure what exactly is needed.

yea i was gonna grab as much as i could, and being military my junk yard normally gives me a pretty sweet discount, btw a good buddy of mine has a 2000 v6 stang and the exciter/reluctar wheel is cast into the crank pulley and the crank pulley is spaced about 4inches away from the timing cover,

Well, at this point, based on what I have figured out so far, I would grab the following:

(1) in tank low pressure fuel pump
(2) frame rail mounted high pressure fuel pump
(3) all fue lines to and from the tank, especially including the Ford specific connectors
(4) all wiring for the fuel pumps and engine going into the cab to the computer
(5) the computer
(6) the injectors
(7) the throttle body
(8) and sensors, including MAP and or MAF
Air intake ducting and air filter housing
(9) distributor
(10) ignition system (should all be part of the engine wiring harness)
(11) under dash wiring for the check engine light and OBD connector

I'm sure theres more, but I just can't think of it right now. Unless you luck out and find MAF truck though, I wouldn't recommend using the fuel injection system on your slant. The vast majority of fuel injected 300s were a speed density system that is not very compatible with a motor outside the programming parameters of the computer. The main appeal of the MAF system is that it calculates the fuel and spark map based on the actual amount of air flowing past the MAF sensor. THis means it adapts easily to different displacements and cam profiles. Speed density systems don't do that and the computer can't "learn" a motor too far beyond the preset parameters.

Everything sold in the US as 1996 model year and newer is supposed to be OBDII compliant. A few GM products which had the connector in '95. 1995 Neons are something of bastard children because of this change and others.

That is what I thought.

That's good to have clarity on that. My 95 Vette was OBD I and my 97 Honda was OBD II. Thanks Josh.

It seems to me that if one were serioius about this Ford EFI swap thing it would make the task much, much easier to have a doner parts truck on hand. Then you could take your time and study the arrangement of things, and be careful not to destroy anything important, or leave anything important behind.

You would probably pick one of these up for next to nothing. I bought the 78 Lebaron I used for parts for $100. And proceeded to take and use thousands of dollars worth of parts off it. Before I made it undrivable I used it to pull stumps out. No kidding. The yard that finally took it off my hands came and took it for nothing. It was kind of sad to see it leave. There was still good stuff on it.

Good tears or bad tears? Would it make you feel better to know it was a 318 car?

SBM no worries, but if she had a sure grip rear, and sway bar, bucket seats, console shift then bad tears lol,

From what I can see the Ford hall sensor is all most the same as Mopar's as we all know Ford likes to "copy" Mopar What I would do is ether cut the bottom off the Ford distributor and weld the SL6 distributor bottom on it or use a Jeep's distributor guts in the SL6 distributor. That’s what I did with my 89 when it was TBI the truck came with a 3.9L V6 when I put the SL6 in I decided to use the TBI system sense my truck had it. It ran good till I went to port EFI.

Ford did not have a crank sensor for the 1995 4.9L with engine VIN Y from what I have researched.

Subscribed. I have a 88 F150 300 I6 with efi but the speed density can be used with the tweecer. A lot of stuff in this forums mostly for 1st Gen Lightnings 351W and stroker.

http://www.nloc.net/vbforum/index.php

I would like to use my parts from my 88 F150 on my / and change it all over to MAF/tweecer, or use a Megasquirt system. Any thoughts on this?

Post subject:  efi slant

Hi Guys
Just injected my slant and ended up using all the gear fron a 3.8 commodore v6.pretty basic system, made my own fuel rail and modified a 4 barrel manifold so it still runs an old school type chrome air cleaner assembly.the ecu is an old 808 style and instead of using a trigger wheel and dfi module i just used a holden camira ignition module with magnetic pick up dizzy,Fired the thing up tis morning so now the fun begins. A mate of mine is the Kalamaker king so we should be able to sort it out pretty well.It started on a standard holden tune

will keep u posted

regards- Rob
