The 2.02" intake surprises me. Extensive head work?
We were able to use the new Gen III Hemi valves sizes with some head work, but had to clearanced the cylinder walls on the intake side for the valve. Similar look's to a Max Wedge exhaust.

Can't add an attachment directly to this site, but you can insert a link from a pic hosting site. I like flickr.com myself.

Hard to see how 2.02" would fit unless you moved the valve over toward the exh, or sleeved the block for a really big bore. 2.02 + 1.55 + 0.025" valve-valve clearance (absolute min) gives you 3.595" from edge-to-edge of valves

I have a 3.592" bore slant (258", with 4.25" stroke) and I don't see how 2.02" would fit without a big bore notch that would restrict flow.

Did you guys flow the head with a cylnder in place the same size as your bore? That would say a lot. Did Glen Knowlton do the head, or who?

Lou

We trusted Glen to do all the head work. In my book, no one is better. Glen was also the one who selected the valve size choices. He definatly spent some time on the flow bench.

It was only after we got the head back from Glen and fitted to the block that we seen there was going to be an issue with the intake valve clearing the cylinder wall.

I wonder if Glen would do a head for me? Would be interested to see flow numbers... Cameron Tilley is still the leader, with heads anyone has measured, assuming you can trust the flow benches (a big if).

I have an "all out" head from Mike J on my bench with 1.76"/1.46" valves, for my 3.445" cast crank motor with K1/Wiseco recip assy. We'll see how that runs in my do-it-all '64 Dart in a month or two...

Since there are lots of pictures, this build and car needs to be an article in the SSRN. That would be a keeper for sure!

The car will be featured in an upcoming Mopar Collectors Guide magazine. Also, once the snow is gone up here, Car Craft plans a photo shoot and write up.

Never heard of those magazines before, but I have heard of the Slant Six Racing News!  That is really cool. I'm sure we will want more details after they skim the surface. Congrats!

Well, Car Craft is pretty well known. Did they give a publication date?

They haven't even scheduled the photo shoot yet. Their local free lance photographer did call and wants to do the shoot after the snow has melted up here. From the sounds of it, he has already planned part of the photo shoot using the old feed mill in Forest Lake as background.
