i still see them on some kit Cobra's on the street. seems to me it would be legal on pre-cat converter cars.

you could also keep cats on and run to sdepipes after....i know when i was in so cal ,back in 70's almost anything was legal, my 427 cobra/lemans 2 4 bbl,duelpoint 67 mustang exited /turned down right at center of rear axle under car....two blownout 30" glass pacs sure did rumble
