Dennis' Red Car looks no worse than my Red Car. In the sights of an RPG at 100m it looks quite respectable,,,,,, Frankly it looks like most slant race cars......you know,,,,,that Rough and Ready Look. |

The Rough and Ready Look works for me! The Street Duster has new quarters, but the welds were not ground down and body worked. It gives it kind of a "FrankenDuster" look. ![]() ![]() http://img690.imageshack.us/i/streetduster2.jpg/ |

Hopefully soon... ![]() Gerald has the new valve springs for the head and said that he would be going through the trans this week. Then I'll need to plan another trip down to Georgia to pick them up. Hopefully I can go grab the Turismo while I'm at it. Still need to find another carb, get another head gasket (you can't re-use them, right...?), get a kickdown linkage, etc, etc,... |

I've been exchanging emails with Ben Gorman at Promax. He misses the Duster, but has started work on his E body Cuda. He's building a 451 stroker for it. He said he has some early pictures of when they first got the Duster that he'll send to me. I've asked him for some more history on the car from their adventures with it. |

Post subject: | Some more Duster history from Ben @ Promax |
I got a little more history on the Street Duster I thought I'd share: From Ben Gorman at Promax Carbs in Indy: I had a customer that wanted a carb rebuilt but had no money. He asked me if I would take a Duster in exchange for the rebuild. At first I told him no, because it must have been a hunk of junk to trade for a carb rebuild ($150). He told me he could drive it to the shop and I could look at it!! I told him if he could drive the Duster to the shop, he better bring his carb, because it is getting rebuilt. He did and that is how I came up with the Duster! The Duster also did all of the Beta testing for Rockett Brands E85. It was the test dummy for Nitrous Express on E85 as well, went through 3 slant 6's that summer! |

Gerald has the head and tranny done, so I'll head back down there after Spring Break to pick them up. Check out the Turismo 225 thread for "the rest of the story..." ![]() |

Post subject: | For Sale!! (Potentially) |
Lukus Bruner has first dibs on it. If he passes, then it will be up for sale. $800 OBO (pending Lukus' decision) It's got a rusty front framerail on the passenger side. |

Here's the clue that I should have not even unloaded the car from the trailer when it showed up... ![]() Live and learn I guess. ![]() My head's on just a little straighter now than it was when I first got back. ![]() At least I got a few good performance parts for the GodsRods Duster II. http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39102 |

Lukus passed on it. HE'S got enough sense not to take on another project.... ![]() Dennis and I will likely work out a parts swap of sorts for it. The Good: New rear quarters, front floors, trunk floor, rear frame rails, 8 point chromoly roll bar, all glass & wiring, streetable The Bad: rust in rear floors, taillight panel and fenders The Ugly: RUST in front right framerail |

Post subject: | Make an offer / Parts ??? |
Dennis only wants the front windshield, so I'll offer it up here one last time before I start parting it out. Make offer. IMHO it would still make a decent car for someone. The only scary part is that front passenger framerail that has to be replaced. They sell new for $169.95 from Auto Rust Technicians. (I've been tempted to just have it replaced and throw something together myself, but I need to get rid of some projects) I have an Indiana title for it (or I can go ahead and switch it to Kentucky to make it easier). |
