Well Guys, The clatter is still there after replacing the rocker arm assembly and push rod on old #6 exhaust valve. I can get get the clatter to go away by adjusting down to .004in. I also had a valve job done just prior so I'm thinking maybe it's a sticking lifter or even the cam lobe is worn. Does anyone have any ideas? |

Okay, So I set it back to .020. What is still causing the very loud clatter from #6? |

Well, I did a compression test today. Cold, They all above 150 lbs. Hot was well over 155. All of the cylinders were pretty much equal=/- a pound or two. I checked all the push rods for straightness. I found two that were questionable and changed them out. I advanced the timing to 5* above tdc and the engine sounds very healthy when reeved up and it idols smooth. I left #6E at .020 and thought I would drive it a little and hope that #6 gets better. If not, the only thing left is the cam and lifters. |
